So she's a bit surprised when she finds a sidhe in a suit

She takes several steps back. "Um. Siv?" Her voice a little uncertain. "Perhaps someone for you?"

Siv moves smoothly, grabbin but not unsheathing her rapier and gets to the door. "If you're looking to arrest Rikki for whatever she'd done this week, she's upstairs. We traded rooms."

"Siv!" Piper admonishes, wondering if she should try to give Rikki some sort of head's up to run out the back.

The fellow looks a bit amused "I'm here to arrest anyone? I'm a legal retainer for Rothman and Associates? We're an Eiluned firm, but in this case I am here on behalf of one Count Hemlock Autumnsbane. My name is Macanta, Harold J. Macanta. " he raises a brief case "I have something for you"

Siv takes the admonishment with a shrug, then says "Oh. The Count" A schooled feature "For me?" cautious

Piper steps back, glad to let Siv take point on this. "Yeah, lawyers don't arrest - they just give, like, summons or serve papers to appear in court. Whatever this is, Siv is innocent!" She protests.

The fellow says "May I come inside?"

She's not sure if lawyers follow vampire protocol, and is clearly a bit wary. A glance back to Siv and Jonas.

Jonas ..has left his desk

ANd is now intruding "Mr. Macanta.. is this some sort of court summons?"

Siv tilts her head, "How about you show me out here in the hallway? Sorry Mr. Macanta, but either this is something official with authority behind it, or it's a request in which case I've no reason to trust ye yet"

"It is not a court summons" Mr. Macanta says "No charges are against Lady Captain Waveborne" Then he looks at Siv "As you insist" He opens his brief case in the hallway and offers it to her "Top manila folder?"

Siv takes it, and reads

Piper tries not to make it too obvious as she tries to peep.

"In regards to the events of ..."

"Your usefulness is duly noted..."

"Encouraging but not enforcing non disclosure"

Piper may get neck strain

Yep, she steps back and glances up at Jonas.

"... boon of financial support"

Siv blinks "Pardon me, Mr. Macanta won't you please come in?" She shifts her gears

"Thank you ever so much" Mr. Macanta says, going in as invited

Siv SHUTS the door "This a boon from the Count?"

Piper moves to sit on the opposite side of the living room, letting the coffee table fall between them. Having this extra space is useful!

"Of sorts" the Eiluned says "Shall I cut to the chase of what I bring?"

"Yes, unless you also have egg rolls and pad thai in that suitcase."

"I... beg your pardon?" he says

"We were expecting our lunch " Siv says simply "Please, go on"

"It has been arranged and awaits your approval... while you will not be spoiled per se, you have assistance , chiefly financial, in say your choice of a Skilled kithain midwife, tutors, tuition, so on. Child care, a nanny will be provided."

The sidhe says this almost casually

"Ex-cuse me?"

Siv's jaw drops "Pardon?"

Jonas' brows shoot up

"What sort of... weird... sidhe retainer grooming idea is this? Our babies are not for sale."

Jonas glowers dangerously

"Oh!" Mr. Macanta says "Certainly not. That would be monstrous. How clumsy of me to give that impression. Your baby will be yours to raise as is proper and mozel tov to you all. The Nanny will come here. The tuition will be reserved until the baby is of college years. Obviously your medical bills will be covered.... "Then for the first time, the Sidhe stops and HE looks puzzled "Pardon, did you say 'Babies', plural?"

Jonas looks at the ladies, then at the man "We are expecting twins"

"Twins? " he looks at his paperwork as if checking something "Well, this would apply to both regardless. My word. Twins" he makes a note

Piper looks baffled.

"I'm - we're not even retainers to the guy. Mister Ma-whatsit, I don't think he even knows who I AM."

"Now understand, this is within reason." he continues smoothly "And it does limit your options. For example, the nanny selection would be somewhat streamlined. The tuition will go further with local colleges though won't be useless outside of it. You'll be put on an insurance policy that won't apply outside of the Jersey area"

"So the medical costs are covered as long as we stay out of New York State. There's a lesson in that" Siv half jokes but she looks stunned "Ah... and is there a ... catch?"

"Of COURSE there's a catch! People, let alone sidhe don't just go GIVING out boons for no reason. Especially not high value mortal dosh ones."

A glance at Macanta. "Do you know anything about random money appearing in our joint account?"

"Oh yes, that was something of a test. To see if you could be assisted quietly without troubling you. But you never used it, never touched it. SO.." he sighs "The direct approach. As for the catch, the Lady Captain will be asked to be discrete"

"And just how do you have our bank details? Wait, wait, that's not the catch. WHY are you offering this to someone who ain't serving the Count, does not PLAN on serving the Count, and doesn't even KNOW the Count?"

Clearly Piper doesn't take kindly to being 'tested'?

"easy Piper" Jonas says "I'm sure he'll get to that"
