"I think if we had EVERYONE here, they might freeze up, Baroness" Dame Gladiola observes

Art seems to have fizzled a bit around the leather jacket.

There is a smallish present on the table still - it's next to the large, bulky contraption wrapped in landscaping canvas and baling twine that appears to be leaking a bit of caustic fluid, and near the carving knife tied in butcher paper. But this present is wrapped impeccably.

Marigold is about ready to burst waiting for Thistle to open it.

Thistle has the courtesy to break the tape rather than tear the paper!

It is a delightful box. Made out of polished wood, with a carved design on it...

She may notice when she upends it, that it feels surprisingly solid, heavy even. And there is a small sigil hidden in a corner of the design, the symbol of Combecatte...

"Well, open it already!" Marigold gushes.

"Mom is a tyrant every yule" Gwen says but with fondness

The box is held shut by a clever little latch.

Citrine buzzes up, curious, and peeks before getting distracted again.

She susses out the latch.

It needs to be flipped up. Much like a latch works.

There is the obvious latch, yes. But there are also small grooves and bits of the design that seem to depress in slightly when she runs her fingers over it...

"Mm..."

Citrine is in her face as she examines it.

She pokes at the design-bits.

She lands on the lid, and stomps a little foot.

Right on a little curled carving of a leaf.

"Alright, credit where credit is due..."

The latch on the front, it appears, just holds the lid shut and is not actually part of the puzzle...
