"Maid like Maid Marion, not maid like Flo"

"Ohhh..."

A flicker of pink over near the stove, balancing on the spoon that was rested across the top of the pot of sauce. A fun tightrope to walk, over bubbling lava!

A low hiss. "Pinky, shoo!"

a Jingling retort! Can a bell sound rude?

"Julius? I need some dross" Gwen returns "oh sorry"

"Perhaps the secret ingredient in my sunday gravy is pixiedust." Marigold says, and with a sound rather like a tinny rasberry, the pink Never flies back over to Katrina!

"They're not mine."

"Mind that you watch your little friends around Briar." The Steward warns Katrina, not unkindly. "Yours or not, you seem fond of them, and she might see them as little more than a flying snack."

"What? They're... I mean, they're kinda flitterigibbets, but they're not snacks. They're fairies."

"To a hungry redcap? Anything can be a snack. And anyone. Briar... think of her like a wild animal. She's fair tamed, but never really domesticated." Julius advises.

Marigold tsks. "She's not a wild beast, Julius. She's a sweetheart, but..." She allows, "Briar is what she is."

Gwen coughs

"Oh." Arty stands and faces Gwen. "Dame Gladiola? I apologize for my behavior earlier. I was rude, and insulted your hospitality. Baroness Nadeen has helped me see where I erred."

"Well, then," A breath from Gladiola, "I accept your apology."

"Well, whatever she is, she's not (*&% *&^^& eating them."

Julius looks to Gwen.

Then Gwen looks to Julius "I could use some dross please?" She tries again

"Oh. Sure, sure." He shakes his head. "Come with me, I'll see what we can put together for you. Depending on your need, certain types may be more fitting, though it always seems to help when you gather it yourself..." He steps out, gesturing for Gwen to follow.

Gwen says "thank you.. " She bows to he baroness, then follows

Once out of earshot from the kitchen, he says, "Maybe you can speak to Briar about the new girl's nevers. Briar listens to you. She'll obey the Baroness, but Lady Nadeen has too much to worry about to keep on her right now."

"I'll try, but ... Briar can be contrary... and.." Gwen holds up a key "I founnd this .. as far on the dross"
