Sometime later Monday night, Gwen finally comes in. She might be in trouble... because a rule about having a MOM is you tell her when you're going to miss dinner!

There is a plate set aside for her on the stove, wrapped in foil! Even if Gwen did eat at Earthrunes, she can't deny that this smells good. Chicken cordon bleu, thin pounded breasts wrapped with salty ham and creamy cheese, breaded and crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, with just a touch of dijon to make the flavors pop...

She was thought of, which may make her feel warm and fuzzy, but also clearly she was missed at dinner...

"Mm that.." And here comes the GUILT

It is no chore to eat the food, but were it a hastily made PBJ she would eat it, out of gratitude and respect.

So she enjoys it, savors it, and then, putting gloves on so not to leak any dusty parts, she cleans the #$#$# out of that kitchen, it's already in good shape because Marigold handles it, but Gwen will stay up another hour and a half if need be to make sure it's ready and then some for tomorrow. Then, an idea hits her. She searches for the Bizquick

And so it is, about 15 minutes before Marigold expects to get up, there is a gentle knock on her bedroom door "May I come in?" Gwen asks

"Hi mom, I'm sorry I didn't text or call to let you know I'd be late last night" Gwen comes in carrying a tray of pancakes, buttered the way she's seen Marigold eat them before, syrup still warm on the side to add. "I wanted to make it up to you, with breakfast in bed"

"Oh, Goodness!" Marigold is surprised, and gives Gwen a smile. "You didn't have to go to all this trouble... part of being a... a 'mom'..." She still cannot help but smile happily as she says that word, "Is knowing that your little birds will grow up. I knew that if you were out late, it was important, and not just frittering about."

She sniffs, and asks, "Is that the maple walnut syrup? You remembered my favorite!"

"Well, I could have taken five minutes out to get word to you," She says "But thank you for being so nice about it," At the mention of the syrup she beams "How could I forget it, you introduced me to it yourself... one of the first breakfasts I had here."

"Well, a message would be nice." Marigold allows, and smiles. "But this is nice as well. Come sit with me, I can't possibly finish all those hotcakes on my own. How was your trip?"

"Amazing and frustrating, I walk the trods, I KNOW I'm seeing wonders, then I step off and it's all kind of 'mmm what happened' again?"

"Earth Runes is very fancy , and I met the Baroness. We have permission to let the fledges visit if need be." She looks relieved, "And I might have told them how hash tag blesed Silverwolf is a few times?"

Marigold scoops half of the pancakes onto another plate, insisting that Gwen share them with her before tucking in.

"Even if we don't understand coffee like some holds?" A twinkle of amusement as she hides a smile behind her teacup.

"It's just so good, Mom," A blush, "You're still the best chef in the kingdoms. I think the Baron is worried the story is out and might make us look weak, like the barony has been neglected so he wants to stress the great things. At least I hope he means that because that's what I did"

"I don't think you can ever go wrong if you're speaking from your heart."

"Okay, this mom daughter thing is working for me," She says a bit slyly "Morale boosted, ego fed, " She takes a bit of her pancake "I think I'm getting the better end of the deal"

"Well, I get a daughter to dote over and eventually provide me with grandchildren." Marigold says, peeping over at Gwen to see if she made her blush. Evil lady.

Well, one MIGHT choke on pancakes

Blissfully swiping up a bit more syrup on her next bite.

Cough, then a BROW, the 'you did that on purpose and I know you did'

Eyebrows rise - who, me?

A chuckle

"Let's hold off the 'have kids' talk till I graduate at least mmm?"

"Oh, of course. But it doesn't hurt to think about having a family someday, right?"

Sip sip, "How is Chuck doing? He's not shaken up after the party, is he?"

"Chuck's fine.. I see him at school and sometimes he gives this look like he's sure he's forgetting something or missing something" A smile "he's sweet. I really need to make sure I don't neglect him. Honestly he's SO dreamy..." wistful "My brain goes gooey when he looks at me with those eyes and smiles like 'hey'"

"ah, first young love." Marigold beams at her. "Isn't it wonderful?"

Sneakily starting to tidy up breakfast while Gwen is all dewey-eyed

"Yeah, it's the best " She looks wistfully into space, then blinks, "Hey.." A look.. but it's pretty much too late. A boggan gets ONE moment without you looking at them and.. "I was supposed to tidy up"

"Oh, you were?" Innocent. "Dreadful of me, I know it."

"Oh, you are so getting spoiled on mother's day. I won't let you lift a finger" Game on!

Her own eyes flash. "Too bad your birthday comes before then..." Challenge accepted!

"Fine. YOu win. I'm gonna go tend to some morning stuff with the dogs, then do my chores, and hopefully see Chuck. Unless you need me?"

"Oh, I do need one thing." She goes over to give Gwen a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Have a good day, dear."

Gwen blushes and returns the hug "I will"

And off she goes

The Baroness stretches , leg against bar. Ballet, and Ice skating, these are two hobbies she does for herself.

Discipline is a must, to maintain what she has, to improve it.

A few minutes later, switch legs.

And then comes the part she likes, with stretching over, she dances. Whirling, twirling, leaping, lost and found in the motion!

There is no audience, not that she's aware of, but if there was one, they would be in awe. For in this moment, she is Precision and passion incarnate.
