The foal protests, leaning against the warm legs of the woman.

She gets her balance again and stands. "I'm not her," she repeats. "I look like her. You're right to recognize that. But I am not her." She keeps her voice low and steady.

GLARE, STAMP

She meets that glare without backing down. After a moment, she says quietly, "I've seen your foal, Missy. I've seen Holly. She's got a different name now...but she's well." Perhaps she's more clever than I give her credit for.

Confusion, but at least it's better than hate.

"Your foal, your filly. Holly. She's a grown mare, and she's in foal herself now. You're about to be a grandmother."

A sniff, a faint scent of...

"Her name is Eregloss now."

The scent might be muddled with that of the other horses here, but...yes.

but the hate has dimmed

Coradel lets her go, to get her space. She pats the neck and shoulder of the little one leaning into her. "You're a silly fellow, aren't you?"

his short tail whisks, and he frolics - tentatively, but he kicks up his heels with a baby snort.

She laughs...and it's not the harsh, cruel laugh of Chloe DuBois, but an easier, more honest laugh of joy.

And Missy eats grass, remembering another foal.
