THey depart. He turns and sees another sluagh, Ded Romeo, the 'pretty boy' who seems to have used the night to sucker in a pretty girl into 'sacred rites of dark passion'

Cliff gives him a guarded nod.

Upnod. and they move on

Seems like it might be ... and then he sees them, armed and armored ghosts, sterner than the ones he saw before, like ten of them. They seem to be searching

Cliff looks through them, as if he didn't see them at all.

And that works. Ghosts who get spotted (Not the ones that talked to him) 'interacting' with mortals or 'breaking the shroud' are seized, and dragged off. It takes a lot of willpower to pretend he can't see it or hear them cry out "Don't forge me.. for god's sake please I just wanted to see my baby girl..."

There is no mercy, no sympathy.

Cliff remembers what it was like under the old Baron.

and it's not a bad comparison. Most ghosts get away, maybe word got out before the Hierarchy came. But damn.. enough are taken that it rings very much like that

He doesn't like it, but 'don't fuck with ghosts' is pretty high on his list of 'always do.'

And it's a wise way to stay unnoticed.

And soon, the hierarchy is gone

Cliff glances around; how's business?

Actually, a few late stragglers. Including a pooka , oh that guy who runs the observatory/planetarium thing.. the Chimp Pooka "I need cheesy stuff, fast, or millions will DIE"

"Quesadilla do you?"

"With the lives of untold populations on the line? " A Pause "Yes. that'll cover it How much"

Cliff tells him, and prepares the food.

And serves it over.

He pays double and rushes off screaming "Hang on, Matilda! We'll close the gate! This is sure to cause constipation!"

Pooka

Yeah, that just about does it. Cliff closes up.

For Cliff, he got some valuable intell... and has some favors to pay forward. Might as well close up.

So he does

Might as well deliver the messages he's got. First, he has to drop off the truck and borrow a ride, then he can take them around.

That goes smoothly

The note is easy to drop off and ensure the girl will find it.... the verbal message is trickier but a sluagh has certain advantages.

Yes.. the note is left behind, he can hear her going "Grandpa? No how... oh my god. It's got to be a trick"

He slips away; she can believe it, or not.

and then to the other guy. Mmm can't exactly yell it

Between squirm and his own patience, he can wait. Find a nice out-of-the-way corner, wait for the guy to come home, and deliver the message in a whisper that will capture his attention.

The guy does come home, cursing about fucking kids, and idiots in outfits... and how he hates his job

Cliff can wait. Probably best if delivered after lights-out, or as he's dozing.

Patience is the watch word, lilghts dim, and the guy flumps in his bed

When a quiet moment is reached, but sleep has not come yet, Cliff limbers up and then hisses "I know what you did on the third of February 2009."

The guy starts and fumbles for al ight in a panic

but when it comes on, Cliff is gone
