Cliff gets some odd looks! Halloween isn't for food trucks? Yet, it proves to be canny. A few dads waiting for their kids to have their spot in line and take their turn, walk up curious and a bit snacky

And all around him,, ghosts are observing.

There's a bowl of candy out on the truck; Cliff respects a good bribe. He keeps an eye on the ghosts as well.

One single father notes the candy, and smiles "I'll buy one... "As his daughter in a princess outfit looks hopeful and takes a candy when he gives the go ahead.

Cliff nods, makes the order; candy's there for the kiddos after all.

One female ghosts watchs the food truck longingly. How long has it been since she tasted food?

Then a colleage age flesh and blood girl in a skimpy devil costume walks past ignoring the food texting on her phone. And the ghost looks her over, smiles, and slips into her!

The co-ed's eyes eyes flicker green for a bit, then she almost lunges at the food truck, "What do you have? " He can hear the overlay of the ghost's voice over that of the new body she's taken

Cliff observes this but doesn't try to intervene.

"I'm guessing you'd like a little bit of everything."

"And how. You're one of the in glimmerfolk, aren't you?" She says "Some of us think you're aliens, but I'm guessing you won't tell on me .. borrowing this. I want savory, I want sweet, I want Salty I want..yeah, everything. She'll burn it off"

He nods. "Check and see how much cash you have." And he turns to put together a few to-go containers.

She hands out a debit card "I remember when this was for the big purchases and a lot rarer"

"Mm." he takes the card and rings her up "A lot of you out tonight. Easier?"

"So much easier. Halloween is one of the few times of the year we can slip through... we're not suppposed to, but fuck the Hierarchy" She huffs

"Mm. Here you go. You finish that up, let me know if you want more."

"I willk, what should I call you?"

"Cliff."

"Nice to meet you, Cliff. I'm just Laura"

He nods. "Pleasure."

"THank you. I'm gonna go dancing. Care to join me?"

"Working." he indicates the truck.

"The man cooks, and pays the bills. Where were you when I was alive?" She asks, then walks off

No doubt a very confused living girl will feel both foot sore and belly bloated by the time she comes to. Other ghosn't aren't so talented. Some just.. ride people, sliping as passangers, not pilots. Others seem a bit crazier, sending cold spots hether and yon

Cliff watches all, interestsed in how the ghosts interact with each other as well as the living.

THey're scared, and excited to meet each other. As if trying to gauge who is friend and foe among them. The word 'Hierarchy' gets mentioned more than once with dread.

Now -that- is interesting; he makes a note.

One fellow, who looks swollen and lumpish, slightly distorted, brings his ghostly self to look Cliff over, "This one can hear us. I think he can see us"

"Glimmer folk" A frailer looking ghost says with a chuckle

Cliff nods; acknowledging the pair without drawing attention.

"I don't trust him" The swolen one says, "How do we not know he won't tell?"

The frail one snorts "Because the Heierchary isn't likely to deal with the glimmer folk. "

Cliff glances around; can he speak without alerting the mortals?

Yes, yes he can. The last customer is at least 5 yards away and

"Mm. I can see you and hear you." Cliff confirms.

"Just don't tell any other ghosts anything," THe swolen was says

"Why not?"

"Because they might be Hiearchy" He glowers "And they'll reforge our souls into the shackles used to hold our brothers"

"Easy, the glimmer folk has naught to d o with it" The frail one says

"Slavery? After death?"

"Oh yes, for thosse who break the rules, you can be forged into thinking feeling things, coins and so on. That's the worst, but some wear shackles. It's not how it should be, not how it's meant to be" The Frail one tells him "But that's the Heierchy for you. Order above all else"

"Mm. Makes me glad we have ... a different way."

"Cherish it, Glimmer folk" The Frail one nods "Some say only Oblivion waits for us, others say there is a life yet beyond the after life, but I would not wish our fate on all the world on anyone. Perhaps we are damned, if so? At least we can find some joy in defiance to the great devils we're trapped with"

"No upside?"

"Well, there's power to be had.." The swolen guy says "Some of which they hold back but we use anyway" He touches a garbage can, and it folds into as if hit by a wrecking ball

"And secrets... and, a chance to resolve somethings in live," The frail one says

Cliff nods. "I knew about that last one. Impressive power; if you can do that, why haven't the dead taken over the world?"

"Damn vampires think they have. " THe swolen one snorts "But mostly because every night isn't like tonight. It's hard to push through"

"Vampires? Mm. I suppose so. Any of them around here?"
