Merione moves along onto the campus green, the back side . If she were leading them to an ambush this would be perfect

Dagmar is Alert. Trolls are good at that.

Sylvi's keeping an eye out, too.

"Proximity alert" She says stopping near a group of bushes

Sylvi stops and looks around.

Sylvi sees something crimson shining under a bush, like metal

A blink. "Here." She looks closer, moving a branch of the bush aside.

It's a shield, bearing the symbol of the college!

Dagmar remembers seeing this, wielded by the Scarlet Knight Chimera!

It has light dents, as if it fell from being knocked loose

Frown.

""The Knight had that. Our mascot."

There's likely more than one Scarlet Knight chimera around here, still ... a shield separated is not a good sign

Sylvi frowns and nods. "Doesn't look good." She looks to the pooka. "You said a flower plucked him?"

Merione nods and moves to a patch near the bushes. There's a flower, looks plucked, chimerical, it lays on the ground, petals now mused

Sylvi kenns the flower.

She feels a desire to pick it up and sniff it

She starts to reach towards it.

She realizes she's under a compulsion and resists!

"Whoa!" She pulls her hand back. "Yikes. Trap." She looks narrowly at the pooka. "Could have warned me."

"Should we... smash it?"

"Given how my veracity is never questioned, would it have helped?" She lowers her glasses

"It already looks kinda wilted."

"Fair," she says to the pooka. "And yeah, I don't want anybody else caught by that, but I also don't want us to get trapped by smashing it."

Merione says "Well, knights picking flowers is something someone has to do" which is no answer at all from a Pooka, but she looks at the shield with concern

"Set it on fire?"

A frown of confusion at the pooka. Then a nod to Dagmar. "If you've got fire, yeah. I don't."

Merione looks about nervously "If folks are taking out knights, what chance do two pooka and a troll have?"

"I've seen worse odds." She looks at the shield again. "Hey, Dagmar, I'm going to pick up the shield. If I vanish...well, I'll do what I can from the inside until you find me."

And she reaches to pick up the shield.

A grim nod. She lets Sylvi go before she'll attempt to make fire.

Sylvi picks it up, and a voice rings in her head , as if trying to speak but she can't make it out

but she doesn't vanish

A frown. "Okay...I heard something." She looks at the shield. "Was that you?" she asks it, knocking on it three times to Whisper it.

It takes to the whisper instantly and eagerly "It was! Or rather my master's voice through me. You're a commoner aren't you?"'

A brow. "Yes. Why?" she asks just a touch defensively.

"Because the shield would have spoken to a knight, ironically unless they had spent time as a knight, even a king wouldn't understand me either... but this cantrip does the trick. Ask questions. I've much to pass on"

A grin to Dagmar. "You would have heard it better." Then to the shield, "What happened to your knight?"

"Yeah, well..."

"Abducted... he stopped to pick a flower, knights must, because SOMEONE has to do it! But it was bespelled by smell and it tried to put a slumber upon him... but strong willed is The Scarlet Knight... Rutger's PRIDE! And thus he tried to fight, but he was too tired to put up his usual battle... and he dropped me, and was taken. But I was not taken in honorable combat or tourney, thus I am still a part of my knight!"

Somehow it's a rather LOUD whisperer

"Who fought him and took him?"
