She nods.

A nod, and another bite of calzone.

"I didn't do college," they offer once their mouth is empty.

She shrugs. "I got a scholarship."

"You a brainiac?"

SNORT.

A smirk. "That's a no, then."

"Nope. I throw shit really far."

"I mean...I guess 'throwing shit' is another way to say 'writing a thesis'..."

That gets a short bark of laughter.

"Pretty sure that's not what you mean, though."

Heh Gerd chuckles at that comparison "Dagmar is plenty bright though"

"Shot-put. I do hammer and javelin, too, but I got the full ride for chucking balls."

"Oh! Athletic scholarship. Gotcha." Another smirk. "Some balls are just begging to be chucked."

"Oh, you've dated" Gerd tries to time it when Rowan is drinking or eating

Her cheeks flush purple.

A dismissive noise. "I mean, yeah, but doesn't take dating to figure that out."

"Alas, like my Uncle, I am not as funny as I hope to be" She chuckles

"Oh, crap, is he one of those dad-joke types?"

"100 percent."

"110 somedays" Gerd admits "You've been warned"

"And, as said, he grew up in New Agengard."

"Long time ago, right?"

"Before I was born" Gerd nods "Though all his time in holds aged him slower than otherwise"

"Wonder why he didn't stay there." Absent tone, another bite of food.

"Well. You left."

"Yup." The point doesn't seem to eliminate her question. "Just wondering what his reason was."

"I've never asked."

Rowan looks to Gerd to see if she knows.

"That's his story to tell" Gerd replies

"Guess you'll have to do that strategic reconnaissance later. Maybe see if you can snag patrol schedules while you're at it."

Gerd's brows llift in surprise at Dagmar's comment

"Patrol? Sure, but like I said, I'm not thane-material. What problems do you usually get?"

"No, but if you wanna report on our defensive strengths. Or maybe you wanna know what treasures we have, huh? Y'know, what needs defending." A scowl.

"Annnd, we're back to the Paranoia Shuffle."

Amused.

GLARE.

"Okay, Dagmar, easy... she's asking a lot of questions but let's not default to assuming the worst." A look at Rowan "Rowan, you do seem to want to know a lot of stuff that might set our future storm rightfully on guard."

"So, you wanna tell me how I got on your shit list, Dagmar? Or do I get to guess?"

"I get it. Have fun makin' me feel small, and just keep asking all these oh so casual fuckin' questions."

A puzzled quirk to their brows. "Because I wondered why somebody who's from the same area I am chose to leave for the same place I ended up?"

"That ain't the only one and you know it."

"If I can make you feel small, that's would be some funhouse mirror shit on my part, but sure ain't what I intended."

"Oh, ha-ha." Snort.

Rowan looks from Dagmar to Gerd and back again. Then starts to get up from the table. "Maybe just let me get my duffel from the trunk, and I'll give myself my own tour. I can find my way back." Easy tone.

She stands. "How about this piece of intel, all for free."

A wary scowl belies the casual stance.
