"So she's gone to fight a sea monster, I think" Ylva explains to whoever is in the kitchen

"A sea monster?" Kerri says as she chops some veggies. "What makes you think this?"

"She said it was either that or she was calcyfing" Ylva recalls "The whole conversation felt very odd. I mean, I was polite, remembered my manners, but she seemed to get riled. I said congrulations ma'am on her being a mom, and wished her will on her retirement.. " Confusion on the troll's face

Kerri pauses in her movements and looks at Ylva with wide eyes. "Pardon?"

"Well, " Ylva says brow knitting "I don't remember my exact wording but I WAS polite. Told her domestic tasks and child rearing were important... and I guess she realized she hadn't quested in awhile because I asked and...she mention having chldren so I figured that meant her priorities had shifted"

Kerri lets out a long exhale. "Okay...Ylva, I suspect this might be confusing, but people go through different stages in life where they focus on different things. Right now, Siv has been focusing on her partners and her new family. That doesn't mean that her life will be only that from now on. Unfortunately, though, it can sometimes feel that way, and some people overreact and overcompensate. Did she actually mention a sea serpent?"

"A sea monster, I don't know if it is a serpent or not, but she said she had to go NOW" Then a worried look "I upset the current Chief's daughter?"

"Well, it certainly looks that way," Kerri says with a sigh. She finishes chopping up the veggies. "Ylva, please put these in that tupperware and put them in the fridge. I need to find the Mountain or the Chieftain."

"Yes, Hearth" She says and begins to do so, then admits "I didn't mean to and hope this doesn't count against my evaluation. I'll apologize, of course. I... " And she just shrugs and goes back to the tupperware

Kerri can almost imagine Siv acting a WEE bit rash about this. She's matured, but Fiona tendencies and her own pride might make a voilatile mix at being 'retired'

"Just...we'll talk later, Ylva." Kerri goes out into the main hall to see if either of the other leaders are there.

Vali is scribbling notes dutifully

"Mountain, have you seen the Chieftain?"

"I saw her in golf pants heading out. In a profound display of wisdom, I did not crack a grin as she walked by. That, and I think Speaker GROWLED at me...can't be sure. Might have been her" He says

"Might have been both. And we might have a problem. Ylva has apparently been asking Siv what it's like to be an old married woman and no longer an adventurer."

A choking sound "She didn't."

Then a double look "She DID?"

"AND...Siv seems to have taken off in some seaward quest for trouble, in the shape of a sea monster."

He rubs his horns "Oh wow. Yeah, Jonas and Piper are giong to be pissed at her for hurrying off. Let me guess, you want me to see if I can scry her?"

"If you can. I'm going to reach out to Jonas and see if he's heard from her."

"Okay. I'll take a peek" He says "And leave you know. Jonas might be at work still. Not sure. Anything else?"

"Not yet. I don't want to pull the Chieftain away if there's no true danger. Thanks, Vali." She heads outside, already pulling her phone out of a pocket.

JOnas it turns out, is in a panic (By troll standards) when she calls "She left a note, she's GOT to kill a sea monster. What is going on?"

A sigh. "Short form: she's going through an early midlife crisis, brought on by some innocent but thoughtless questions. I think she's trying to prove that she's still an adventurer."

"Of course she's an adventurer, She's a spy acrobat warrior swashbuckler among other things.... but she's also a mother. Our kids will need their moms as well as me'

A bit growly worried

"I know this, but it seems like she needs to be reminded. Vali's trying to tell if she's in imminent danger. I'll let you know what I find out."

"You're right and... thank you, Kerri. If she calls here I'll pass it on. "

And the call ends... leaving Kerri to juggle fires as always
