The Hornshield from which Gerd and Vegard take and took a Surname actually takes Flyswatter's blow and holds her steady despite Dagmar's might. There is magic in both items, after all, and.. well, it's sparing, not a full out fight "You and Symon are OATHED ? That's fantastic! I mean, I'm surprised surprised, but it's really great! Symon's the kind of guy any witch in training can respect."

It would appear folks are NOT surprised Dagmar and Symon are together, but the Oath is being a reason for them to cheer.

She gives Flywatter a jerk, looking to unbalance Gerd by yanking the shield. "So, would he be a witch or a warlock? Can dudes be witches?"

NOW Gerd is unbalanced but she tries to turn it into a bullrush...using the shield to charge. Bold, and getting in under flyswatters ideal range. Of course, Dagmar learned from the Chief how to handle this, but Gerd clearly is not a slouch in melee

"Well," She says as she turns her near fall to charge, "Theories about that... witch is often seen as feminine, but in truth there were a lot of men who got hurt in witch hunts too so some are like 'it's unisex', others think the dream has gone too far for that, that the title is tied to feminine power and men should go by another name..."

Dagmar doesn't have a shield, no. But Gerd does discover that Dagmar herself is a brick wall.

"You gotta shift directions. If you feint right and shift left, you have a better chance."

"Oof" that didn't go so well... "Right, shift.. thanks. Anyway.. warlock is not one most guys who do research like. You see, one translation is Oath breaker"

"Zane swears the PROPER term for male witches would likely be Wizard. And that witches are just Wizardesses who incorporate certain ideological elements into it. OOo we got into a fight about that. See I think Witches predate wizards by a lot"

"But you could argue Symon is a wizard." She tries for the next testing blow, her mace not having range, but her shield letting her close to try.

"Zane's a wizard. Dunno about Sy."

"Think he'd be a necromancer if he had a say in it."

"Actually, necromancer might fit in someways... originally it was one who SPOKE with the dead, not made undead. Symon has a way with corpses studying them, he gets them to speak their stories even without using glamour. A forensic scientist might thus be a necromancer. Add to the fact Symon HAS Magic to speak to ghosts let alone omen or whatever them means he has a right to the title above most. "

And the mace gets enough reach to go for Dagmar's thigh as she talks of necromancers

"Better!"

"You wanna try that again? See if you can get more whip in the wrist?"

"Yeah" She nods "So, Necromancer for Symon?" And she tries again, trying to get more whip in the wrist!

"Or sorcerer, maybe. Multi-classed with Rogue, clearly."

"mmm maybe an Augur? They often divined by reading intestines"

And Dagmar has to move fast to stop the mace this time or even reduce its effectiveness (Though neither troll is going full strength)

Dagmar swings the back end of her halberd to block - quicker, more efficient.

Dagmar turns a sure blow into a glancing one

"Damn, it's not fair someone as big as you is also quick" A smile though, as EVERY troll hears complaints about how their strength should mean they're clumsy or some other balance

"You ever see a rhino in action? They're big, too."

"Yeah, very short sighted" she smiles "Now HIPPOS... river death and quick"

"Hey, you want to go out and get some pizza or mexican? My treat. I figure the others will try to put you in a party but me buying you a cheap meal out might be better to celebrate, and you bring back some left overs to decay for Symon later?"

"ooo, tacos."

"I have no idea what a sluagh worthy burrito ends up looking like, particularly with Guac, but I hope Symon enjoys it when it's ready. For us? Tacos" And the two head off to enjoy the fruits of a good sparring match and a quiet congratulations on finding an Oathmate.

Gerd can't help but smirk "You realize, in a way, you snagged THE most elusive Bachelor in Bergen, right?"

Whether Dagmar blushes, protests, looks pleased, or rolls her eyes, we may never know for we have come to...
