Brekke has been reading over a scroll, and she looks up with a puzzled frown. "What is this?"

Siv actually goes formal, an unusual thing "Chieftain, this pooka , who was not invited to the lake side party, is a spy. To be clearer, he was hiding in the lake waters when spoted by Sylvi. She let that slide, for he is a yellow perch pooka . However, he began to ingratiate himself with everyone he could. All pooka are blessed with a knack for getting answers as they build rapport. He was asking however for more than generatlies. He was asking about our security here at the lodge. About the files and records of the Mountain and how in the open they were. He asked about how satisfied folks were with the lodge and your rule as baroness. And so on. When Sylvi caught onto this, she confronted him. And asked he be taken from the party and into a custody. "

Dirk says "He talks a real good game, Chief! Made a sob story about looking for a new home to fit in that almost worked"

Siv's formal tone surprises her, but her expression grows increasingly grim as she listens. Yoel is pinned with a narrowed glare as she folds her arms. "A spy. Reporting to...?"

"Chieftain, " Yoel says with a formal nod from his chair, making him look smaller than he is from a trollish tower above angle, "I am reporting to you now" True but useless "And I have often looked for some place to belong, it can be hard, no?" True so far "I was unaware I had broken the all important part of the Escheat 'Ask no questions'. I humbly apologize for being curious. " Okay, lies in there, but that's obvious

A brow, and she looks to Dirk. "I believe I see what you mean." She looks again at the pooka. "I am familiar with curiosity. I am also familiar with the limits of simple curiosity. What Lady Captain Siv reports," a nod to her daughter, "surpasses that. Explain."

He nods takes a deep breath, and begins, "I started life as a childling. I began to ask questions almost right away. Who was the nice lady who sang songs to me. What's that fluffy bear doing in my crib? what the hells a crib. Can I put my foot up to my mouth so I can suck my toes? Turns out I could. God I was limber as a baby. Gradually, I gained the ability to speak, and made my questions known. I would oft be told that I would learn when I was older. So I counted to ten after that answer and having aged , tried again. That did not work nearly as well as I felt it should have. Now being a Fish, and a prey fish others seek to put a hook in, one thing I soon learned was caution. Like a salesman in a broad way musical, you've got to know the territory. You ever feel like that Chief? That you need to get a lay of the land? or river, or lake? Anyway, there I was at the party and these folks seemed to know things and I thought heeey, what if I ask them questiosn and then I will know things too. And it worked, it was amazing. It was like a satyr learning that they could run. They should TRY that they're good at it... where was I?"

"Oh yeah" he says before she answer "I think I remember. Anyway I was asking questions, but like ALL pooka my words are a jumble, now in MY case, my questions came out not opposite but sounding intrusive.. personal, even suspicious....and there's a very good reason for that..."

"All pooka, as you know, have their own way of lying. Clearly my way of lying is to sound prying. It's the bane of my existance and I am SO sorry to have been brought before you and if you let me go I will make my way further ado"

So many lies laced in with truths it was hard to sort them out but she can try

Brekke listens impassively. Trolls can tolerate extended nonsense when there's a point in doing so.

While a lot of that is a bumpy ride for her Gwydion senses... the line 'Clearly my way of lying is to sound prying.' is the glaring one... not only is not clear, it's not his way of lying, at least not normally. In fact Boon aside, she realizes if his lies were prying he'd be mixing a lot more personal questions of intrusive nature in his converse. Still had she not been a Gwydion she'd have had no ide awhich were lies

Dirk says "You know, Chief, if we hit him with a sack of quarters over his body it's not technically going to cause him to bleed so fits the escheat. Just saying?"

"Interesting." She says, then holds up a hand to forestall Dirk. "For one who must pry as he lies," she says to Yoel, "you have not attempted to pry into my business as you have lied to me just now. I wonder, though, if you have a comrade, a non-pooka, who has known you for at least a year and can vouch for your character?"

Siv arches a brow at THAT... then says "If it please the Baroness? At Sylvi's suggestion, his cellphone was found and investigated. It actually had some encryption, but I was able to get it broken by a contact."

"Mm-hm."

Then an interested look at Siv's comment.

"What did you learn from it?"

"Not as much as hoped. He took pictures, mundane, of course,of various areas of the Barony. Including some of our citizens such as Lucia's parents and their restaurant. The Wayburton House and Professor Wayburton at the college. Dame Anne Marie. And the apartments. Key non hold locales and locals of fae activity. He actually cleared his text history before we got it. However we do have his contact list numbers and that maybe a clue as to who he works for or reports to."

Yoel winces just for a moment

"Yes, that may well be useful. Perhaps, if he cannot provide the names of associates who can vouch for him, we can utilize that list to contact those who might help him out of this difficulty." A brow at the pooka as she offers this helpful solution.

"What part of the Escheat did I break out side of a hold asking questions?" he inquires

Dirk rolls his eyes. Siv looks a bit impressed. It is perhaps what she'd try if she were caught as a spy

A curious look. "I was not aware that I am only able to protect the interests of my people when it concerns violations of Escheat. But as far as I am concerned, you have violated my Right of Demesne as you have tricked my people into revealing information that may violate the security of my Barony."

He winces.

"Yes, I thought you might agree."

"Final opportunity to provide the name of the person for whom you are spying, before the Lady Captain proceeds with investigating your contacts."

"Your robustness" he protests "This 'crime' is at best, a Mis-demenser"

"Perhaps. But it will serve."

But she says final warning and he looks glum "I was planning to report to Caer Falken"

And it's TRUE

A blink.

"Who at Caer Falken?"

"I hoped to speak to Mrs Joosten" He says jaw up

And.. true

"Everybody speaks to Mrs Joosten. But she is not the one for whom you are gathering information. And I would appreciate if you would Stop Wasting Our Time."

Siv says "And she's not part of the direct intelligence network around here either"

Yoel looks curious "And how would you know that?"

"Because," Siv starts to answer

"Lady Captain." Brekke interrupts.

"That is not his business."

Siv clamps down then GLARES at the pooka

The GLARE that Brekke is giving the pooka may betray the family resemblance.

Yoel actually gulps.

Dirk, secretly, takes pride they've been learning from their redcaps

"If you try my patience further, I may allow Peacekeeper Dirk to take charge of you for further questioning."
