"Later," she says quietly, "when you need to, you will find that and release it. But for now, we have work to do."

She nods. "Fix May."

"Fix May," she agrees. "You will not be alone in this. Do not try to do this alone. More must be fixed than your part. We must also fix the work of Dayana and the medications. Tell me, on you word, you will tell me how you progress and ask for help."

She rubs at her eyes with the heel of her hand. "I'll tell you, yeah."

"I may well ask you, also. Do not keep this a secret. Seek out advice from Hearth and Mountain, as well as your friends. We must help her."

"Can I tell Lupe?"

Brekke straightens up the chair that got knocked over.

"Lupe didn't ruin things entirely, maybe they can still be friends when this is through..."

"Hm. Yes. Lupe was in her letters. Strange that she wrote less and less. Have you heard from Lupe recently?"

She gathers up the letters (in order) and hands them back to Dagmar.

She shakes her head, shoulders curled protectively. She clutches the letters to her chest.

"Then...yes, tell Lupe. She may need help also, in some way."

"Lupe's busy."

A brow. "This is your true-sight visions again?"

She swallows. "That's... that's why she didn't write May, the prodigal stuff. She's busy a lot."

"Perhaps. But confirm that with her." She leads the way out of the private quarters.

Dagmar follows, wrung out.

THAT was harder than many battles

Before they descend from the deck, Brekke turns to her. "Dame Dagmar, to be clear -- you have a quest now. Recover May and set her on the path that restores her to a full and healthy Dreamer once again." A pause. "It will not be easy."

She shakes her head in agreement, without meeting the Chief's eyes.

Brekke does not force this. Instead, they depart the Kestrel and the boat house.
