Siv calls out "You look great, Da" But keeps some distance so not to accidentally drive her folks apart whiel they're enjoying each other. Carnivale hasn't started officially yet and her ma is entitled to some relaxation before hand

Indeed, it seems Brekke and Frank are in close conversation, for their ears only, and... oddly colored.

Siv smiles and backs away pretending she is too busy saying hello to Sally Mae, who with her Liam Sidhe fella, they are dressed as Bonnie and Clyde to intrude further

Kerri emerges in her Carnivale costume. In contrast to her normally fit figure, her all-white baker's costume makes her look...very curvy. Especially up top.

"Anything I should know about for the evening? Something I can do to help?" the Ocean King murmurs to Brekke.

Her baker's cap seems to want to flop forward over her eyes, and she has to keep shoving it back. "I can't think of anything. My goodness, Frank, what a wonderful costume!"

Brekke shakes her head to Frank. "Only that which is always true -- the people must be able to treat a fool as a fool, and a Carnivale monarch must be honored."

Siv looks at Kerri "Love the outfit, Aunt Kerri. Lots of room in the top shelf in your kitchen" She grins

Frank exhales and nods, and steps away just a fraction, breaking the moment with reluctance.

"Thank you, Kerri. You look very.... apt."

Kerri chuckles and gives a little twist, and her costume....bobbles. There's just no other word for it.

Then she looks to Frank. "Thank you. I do try."

Siv glances over "And here I thought I'd win cleverest costume but I think I'm twice beat out. Ah well" Fondly

"You could still make an impression, Siv," Kerri says. "I could fillet you, bread you, and fry you up," she offers.

Brekke looks at Kerri. "I would prefer you do not."

Kerri salutes, then flips the hat back out of her eyes again.

"Well, to be fair, when the Ocean gives a gift to the world, there are far less honorable fates to be filleted by even a clown of a hearth" A wink

Frank clears his throat.

The buffon moves about pompously... and knocks over things with his clumsihness.. some of the things are preset for that purpose

Kerri brandishes a rolling pin in the buffoon's direction. "Don't you dare make a mess in here!"

And she starts picking up after him...her overly-ample hips knocking over other things in the process.

Frank looks elsewhere... oh look, snacks....

The crowds come in, the Wayburtons enter, looking proud, for the queen chosen is none other than the Kinian Lydia Wayburton, sister of Zane

the girl beams , dressed to the nines, almost trembling with excitment. So many years being on the sidelines, now she is, for one night, the most special one of all

Brekke offers to be the Queen's steed to carry her to the tall chair by the Balefire, ducking so the professor can lift the girl to her shoulders.

Kerri makes a point of giving Siv a quick hip-check and an empathetic wink.

Siv smiles at that, rallying herself.

Frank (from a slight distance) gives the Queen a bow.

And Lydia is no longer the little girl they knew, she's grown some, but .... it's a troll Brekke could lift a bear... so she smiles as she gets a ride "To the carnival throne"

She can reach up and touch the carved rafters, if she wishes. Early spring flowers, the kind that are hardy enough to weather late snows, crowd those rafters, and some fall down to decorate the Queen's hair.

Brekke sets her down upon her 'throne' and goes to one knee before her. "Your Majesty."

Lydia touches them, then is set down, and smiles at the Fool, and whispers "Don't worry, Chief... I couldn't be mean to you. Sides, I want to be a GOOD queen" Then she speaks up "Jo Jo is returned, so let it be known that the Fool must dance with Jo Jo, while the Buffoon and the Clown serenade us with a song. A short one"

Tiffany , dressed in a cat costume mutters "So much for not cruel"

Frank takes a glass of hard cider, and some snacks and nods with appreciation at the command.

Vali looks at Kerri "What song should we butcher together?"

Brekke blinks. "Ah...of course? Your Majesty." She goes to JoJo, hesitates uncertainly, then gives a deep curtsy.

Kerri looks at Vali, wide-eyed. "Uhhhhh...."

From behind the coffee pot, legs and arms peek out, as if so shy, something fuzzy uses the urn for cover even as it takes the hands of the Fool!

Vali looks over , then notices Sivs outfit, and starts singing 'Baby shark' while tapping Kerri to go along

Kerri winces, but an order is an order, and she joins Vali in, singing with bouncy vigor.
Brekke has to carry JoJo through the dance...which just makes it all the funnier.

Lydia laughs hard, and Siv feels like a traitor but can't help chuckle. Others have come in and begin luaghing as well good naturdly. Some even clap for the foolish trio!

Frank's beard moves, almost unwillingly.

Olgar hoots and whistles, he is dressed in drag... probably because screw em, that's why

Kerri gives Olgar a wink, but doesn't miss a beat with the song.

Lydia claps appreciatively "Okay, that's enough, thank you very much. You fools can stop"

Brekke says, "Yes, my liege," and carefully returns JoJo to his place of honor.

But she has another order "Now, to punish the fools, they must each drink that most dreaded of drinks... coffee... " She says "From Red Solo cups"

"Thank you, your majesty," Kerri says, just a bit breathless.

"She's a monster" Vali the Buffon stage whispers as red solo cups are brought out
