At that, he smiles "A grand offer, but I don't wish to intrude. However, if you like, I'll pass on a well wish to the Baron and I'm sure hee'd want me to pass on Teaneck's warm regards for your upcoming Beltaine"

A slight grin. "May we all enjoy the warming season when it comes. Travel safely."

"I will" He assures and departs

"Everything okay, Chief?" Vali inquires

She closes the door and looks towards the upstairs. "I am not sure. Baron Kealan sent him to seek out Siv, to 'have a word' with her."

Vali arches a brow "Mmm good thing Siv's a local here in Rivervale"

"Agreed. Well, I am certain that Baron Kealan knows well whose daughter she is, and will allow my intervention should it be needed."

"And if he doesn't know that, you'll educate him" A smile "WHich I understand a bit more now that I'm father"

"Mm." A nod as she retakes her seat.

"Everything okay, Chieftain Brekke?" The little girl asks

"For now, yes. Now, what of you? Are you weary?"

"KInd of" She admits embarrassed "Full belly after a long walk. But I should help the Hearth clean the dishes"

She does look tired though

"The Firebrand has done all the chores she needs to do for this day." Brekke rises. "And I hope you will rest here by the balefire tonight. Yes?"

"Yes, Chieftain" She says

The Chieftain herself goes to get a cot and bedding from the linen closet and makes up the bed for the little sidhe.

The little girl gets a change in some jammies that are kept here, and soon she's i nthat bed "Did I do good on the words when I let the fire in? I tried real hard to memorize it"

"You did very well indeed. I felt you did great honor to our Balefire, and to your role. I am sure Siv will say much the same in the morning. Sleep well."

"Kay" And to sleep she drifts, quite rapidly

Brekke watches her settle in and drift off, then she looks up the stairs again. "I do not wish to wake her," she says to Vali, as Frank has left the room for the moment. "But I wish to know that she is well."

"Of course, " Vali says "Go on, Chief. She's your daughter. She'll get it, even if she sighs dramatically"

A slight grin. "My thanks, Mountain." She goes upstairs as quietly as being a troll allows.

A quiet knock on the door to Siv's room.

Siv stirs softly in her room "who is it?"

"It is your mother, Siv. May I enter?"

"Oh, sure mom" Siv says "just make sure Kassedy isn't there? She's wily"

Brekke checks behind herself, just to make sure the childling hasn't crept up the stairs after her....

She has not

...and she opens the door and goes in. "She is asleep by the balefire."

"Oh good" Says Siv as she sits up right Despite the cover over her lower body, her mother can see her daughter is bandaged in numerous places. Bruises where there aren't bandages, and at least one fresh but sealed scar. She looks pale and fragile

"Siv...." Brekke clearly is not ready for the amount of damage here. "Lie down," she says, pulling a chair over to her bedside. "What happened?"

"Dad was right, you worried anyway" She lays down a bit though, a sign she IS hurting too much to be fully contrary "I was on a mission for the spymaster. I got the objective, but I took a beating for it"

She frowns, possibly considering finding out whom she needs to beat up in return. "Baron Kealan sent word that he wishes to speak with you."

"Oh" A wince "I was supposed to give him a full report. But he was busy, and when I got the call. Mom, Kassedy is MY squire, and a good kid. Me being there meant a lot to her, or so it felt. So I may have slipped out when they didn't want me to. I did leave a file with him, notes and such, but it's a violation of protocals not to go through the debriefing so he's a right to be irked"

"He will have to stay irked, then. For now. You are not leaving until you are well." Firm.

"You should have had one of Kerri's cookies."

Siv protests just a bit "Mor, jeg har en plikt." (Mother I have a duty")

then switches back to English "And I did have one." She assures "When I came in. wolfed it down fast"

"Du har en plikt, men jeg har en datter." (You have a duty, but I have a daughter.)

Her eyes widen and she looks at the wounds again. This is after healing?

"You will sleep. Let me see if I can help. Yes?"

"Yes" She nods , eyes already closing "Under mild protest" then a mutter "Jeg elsker deg, mamma." ("I love you, mom")

"Jeg elsker deg, Siv." She rests her hand (blue, not silver) on Siv's hair and strokes gently as she quietly sings a lullaby. Siv may have dim memories of it from when she was little. "Byssan lull, mit lille barn..."

As she sings, a slow and gentle heatherbalm settles on Siv as well.

Siv does remember, and she was already sleepy. The spell works well, healing some aches and pains.... and the song makes her feel safe. She sleeps

And Brekke stays there for a long time before eventually leaving and letting her get a solid night's sleep.

And Brekke maybe alarmed. One scar did not heal as others did. And Brekke knows a cold iron scratch when she sees it. her daughter is asleep and has no more answers. But she may have them herself ... later

And Brekke leaves, her daughter will be more comfortable now. Answers will wait
