Another day, Siv walks down , she's been tapping into the balefre...as much as mother allows. It's fresh, and seems to help.

Brekke herself is sitting by the balefire, frowning and looking a bit tired. How long did she sit with Siv? And how many Heatherbalms did she cast?

Siv says "Someone healed me over night while I slept, or tried to" Siv eyes her mother

She returns the look. "You can hardly blame a mother for doing such a thing. How do you feel?"

"Better... much better. Stop draining yourself for my sake, mother. I can blame you when you overdo. I mean, a Fiona lecturing a Gwydion on restraint is just not the natural order of things" A fond smile though "I'll get you coffee"

"Thank you. But we must get you back to Baron Kealan soon. I think maybe he has a way to address such wounds."

"Such wounds?" A wince "Oh you saw that one. Of course you did. It was just a scratch with it... " then she admits "Sure was draining though. the touch of it felt like.. numb despair"

Brekke is quiet for a moment, then says grimly, "You were fortunate it was not a more severe wound. Very fortunate."

Siv lowers her eyes "I know." She pours TWO cups of coffee, and hands one to her mom "There was no sign the target had cold iron until.... well, I found out there was"

"Hm." She accepts the coffee grimly. "You saw no sign of it. I wonder, though, if Baron Kealan knew."

"He wouldn't have sent me in if he did. Not just because he's got honor of his own, mother, but because he doesn't send the wrong person for a job. And much as I hate to admit it, I'm more vulnerable to cold iron than your average troll" She looks troubled "No. He wouldn't have done that."

A grumble. She really wanted to have somebody to blame for this.

That causes her daughter to give a small smile "Sorry, mom. The world I work in is... well, it's shades of gray, but it is SHADES, not all dark or all light, but you can tell where you are on the gradiant"

She sighs. "I do not like it, Siv. I would have you safe. But it is not for me to order your life, and I trust that what you do is important and worthwhile."

"It is, mom. I ...can't prove that i know," Uncofmortable " I wish I was more like you and dad but my gifts have ended up elsewhere. I help people though, that much is alike. I promise" A sincere nod "But let's face it. Safe was never an option all other things aside. "

She shakes her head. "You need not mimic us, and you need not convince me that you are working to help people. I am sure that you are. Simply be patient with my concern for the babe I held in my arms."

A blush "Oh mother" She bends down to give her mom a bit of a hug, a tender one

Brekke pats Siv's arm lightly, being careful to avoid getting anywhere near the bad wound. "Finish your coffee, Lady Captain. I will drive you to Teaneck."

"Thanks, mom. " She parts and sips

Brekke sips as well. Whether or not he knew the risk, she might have a word or with Baron Kealan while she's there.

Soon enough, the coffee is done, and Siv is ready to go when her mother is.

"Be sure, Siv, that you make time before your next mission to visit more with your father as well," she says as she escorts her to the Jeep.

"Aye. I don't spend enough time with him" She looks about as if seeking him out

"I did not say that. But he will appreciate any time you can spare, just as I do."

a smile at her mom "You're busy folks, mother, but I'll try"

They get into the jeep

And off they go, to Teaneck.
