Olgar drinks a beer, while Echo drinks from his water bowl

olgar looks down "You're a bit of a square, you know that?"

Echo is happy to agree. He's a follower like that

Olgar smiles despite himself. Then looks about then whispers "Father's day soon. I dropped a few clues. We'll see if my wife and daughter got the hint"

"Are you talking to the dog again?" Kerri says as she comes from the kitchen with a broom and dustpan.

"Who me? pfff"

A skeptical look from Olgar to Echo.

Echo looks up adoringly at Kerri. He maybe Olgar's dog technically, but he seems to have picked up that Kerri is VERY IMPORTANT to Olgar, so he loves her too

"Look, the dog's got a job. I got a job. He's a work buddy"

"Oh, you...." She crouches down to rumple Echo's ears briefly.

Echo savors the rumple

Then she stands again and starts sweeping up. "You'll be staying home for tomorrow?"

"I can arrange to do so if you think it's best' he says.

Is he fishing for confirmation Father's day will be honored?

Sweep, sweep, sweep "Well, it's up to you...but I'd like it if you were around. It's supposed to be a nice day." Hmmm...maybe confirmation, maybe not.

a chuckle "Good weather?"

Oh he's aware he's not going to get anything out of her she doesn't want to give away, but it's fun to try

"Mmm," she responds noncommittally with a grin.

A grin back "Well, I suppose echo could use a break. He's still young, not old and grizzled like me"

"No, he's got a few years before he gets as decrepit as you."

echo looks up , head swiveling. This annoys mackerael, from a book case. The cat is still not sure she has forgiven folks for bringing in more dogs

Olgar reaches for his wife's waist if she gets close "Fortunately you keep me feeling young. I'll stick around tomorrow, sure. Who knows, might be a good day for me. "

She gets caught and doesn't seem to mind particularly. "Oh, now you're getting visions about the future? In competition with the Mountain?"

"Just hopes" He rises and lowers her into his seat, taking the broom from her, and taking over the sweeping "I'm not the most 'Glass is half full' kind of guy, but i do have reason to hope"

It was a smooth almost dance like broom theft

Oh, the switch in position and task surprises her, but...well, she doesn't fight it. In fact, she even puts her feet up for a moment...and steals a sip of his beer.

"Not the first time you've done that" At the beer theft "remember that date where you decided to try that fancy blush wine only to discover you didn't care for it? How many sips did you manage to steal from my mug that night anyway? "

"Me? Steal? Pretty sure we had joint ownership of the alcohol that night. And you didn't think that blush was all that bad, as I recall."

"Tasted best on your lips" He observes then recalls "Oh that's right. you insisted we go Dutch that night" He sweeps with practiced ease then gets the dustpan and collects "Mmm you have my permission to pay for everything tomorrow" A wink 'well, you and Sylvi"

"Tomorrow? I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about, with 'tomorrow'..." Vapid blinks...that just don't work on her.

"You're not that kind of blonde" He chuckles then sobers "I'm a bit worried about Sylvi but tomorrow isn't the time to push the college stuff"

A sigh. "She does keep avoiding it. And she's running out of time, at least for this fall."

"I wonder if she's hoping to wait us out" he frowns "Are we pushing too hard, Not hard enough?"

"Oh, hell, Olgar." She sounds tired. "I don't know. I haven't felt this much at sea with her rebellious phase, just before she went wilder. Remember?"

"Yeah." he ponders "I think I miss her tantrms sometimes , the passive nod and smile and wait us out is harder to figure how to counter"

"It is," she agrees emphatically. "And the trouble is, of course, that she's already had a taste of independence and authority. A pretty big bite of it, actually."

"She's good at it. And I'm proud but ... I just feel like she's decided to do this holdling pattern and doesn't realize no pattern holds for ever. whether you think Change is good or not, it IS gonna happen, and I wonder if she's braced for it" A frown "Am I being one of those controlling asshole dads?"

"You don't sound like it to me. But then again, you're not my dad." Pause. "Because that would be very inappropriate."

"VERY" He agrees

A grin and she steals another sip of beer. "So, no, you're not being controlling. You've never been the kind of dad who thinks he gets to monitor his daughter's 'purity' and 'honor' as if it's your property."

A snort "No. And I wisely married a woman who would call me on that bullshit if I tried that with our daughter. Nah , you're right. Sylvi knows herself there fine. I confess, Colton annoyed me at times. But the important thing is he treats her well and she likes herself when she's with him"

"And I think both are the case." She nods, then gets a thoughtful look. "You don't think...is Colton a factor? About why she won't focus on college?"

"If Colton was that important, why would she move back to Bergen?" He considers it though

"True...."

"She can do the youtube stuff anywhere though that won't last forever, too many trends even for her. She wanted back before Goldfinch was a thing... and that will be up for vote again sooner than we know so..." His brow knits

"I suppose it's possible that college isn't right for her...." But she doesn't look convinced.

He shares that look "She did so well in her senior year.. that one jerk aside"

"If she got shaken because of him, I will have to have words with him," she says grimly.

"I will hold him steady while you tear at" He sips 'something to consider though"

(And the parents consider how to help their daughter, but olgar will get spoiled tomorrow.. cuzz 'reasons')
