She nods, but schools her features clearly trying to be stoic "I see. And if that noble gets angry this happened, is it wise to present yourself to his or her court and risk having yourself ordered about or thrown in a dungeon?

Frank shakes his head "I cannot say I ever did that. In fact, I tried to stay as far away from courts as possible. Until this one." he admits.

A troubled look, then a nod "Thank you , Da. What if the noble is over all a good person? Just a bit.. proud and hidebound at times?"

Frank shrugs. "How does that matter?"

"Mmm maybe I just... " a shake of her head "I'm not sure. Nevermind. I'll do what I think is right where I feel like it then, for now"

Then she gives her dad a hug "Sorry, Da.. Weird thing to unload on you"

He hugs her back and asks "Are you in trouble, Siv?"

"Nothing I can't dodge, dip, duck, dive or Dodge if need be" she tells him with a bit of a weak smile "Worry some others are in trouble though"

"Need help?"

"You just did help" She assures him

Frank nods. "Ok. Be careful, Siv. In my experience, nobles that aren't on the ball about injustices, Escheat violations or not, are likely to drop the ball in other areas and don't care to have it pointed out. Hypothetically."

She ponders it for a time, then says "Well, I suppose no one is all seeing. Clearly, this is why you need spies." A pause "Hypotethically":

"Thanks again, Da" She looks less troubled, but no less thoughtful

"Welcome, Siv. You know I'm going to worry, right?"

"Oh dad" she says alarmed herself now "What if I told you it would all work out?"

"I'd still worry." he admits.

A long look "Fine. I love you, and I want to ease your mind. I'll settle this on Carnivale. Every respects Carnivale's peace"

Apparently it's not so hypothetical

"So you -are- in trouble."

"No, just.. more like.. I'm in tension?"

She looks at him, "I know this much, this hypothetical noble wouldn't be cruel. It's not in her"

An eyebrow.

"oh dad. Just.. don't worry, okay? If you worry I'll pout. That'll teach you" A firm nod, but a smile tries to escape as she looks up with her dad with adoring eyes.

"Oh Siv, I'm -going- to worry, okay? That's what parents do. Worry about your personal safety and, please remember, your actions can reflect on your mother. If you get into trouble with a noble, they might think your mother sent you." he points out.

"But I'm not sworn to mother" Siv says

Frank nods. "I know. The noble you're targeting might know. But if they are upset enough, they might look for anyone supporting you and your actions, and take action. One reason I stopped."

A frown " I suppose that's true. Well, if it comes to that I'll handle it"

"If you can." Frank agrees.

" I can" Siv says with Fiona confidence, "Damn, but it's been fun though."

"Mm."

"Sorry, a bit of adventure is needful" Siv says

"Wilders will wilder."

"Exactly, and Graybeards will worry but I wish you didn't" SHe pats his arm "unreasonable of me. But it will be fine, da."

"Mm." he doesn't sound entirely convinced.

"I know, I know- I'm a pain in the butt"

"We love you anyway."

"Tis my saving grace" His daughter's eyes sparkle, her mood much improved. She thrives on love like a flower does sunlight "That I am so spoiled"

Frank's beard moves, and he gives her a small kiss.

She kisses his cheek back, "Now, how are you? Got a trip set up after Carnivale yet? "

Frank nods. "Yes. Out into Grass."

"taking anyone this time or flying solo?"

"Solo. Strictly business; going to make a couple drop-off and pick-ups."

"Fair. Will you call us now and then to let us know you're okay?" She asks

"Always do." he -is- faithful about calling nightly; an old habit.

"True" A smile "mom lights up when she thinks I'm not looking"

His beard moves, and his eyes smile. "I'm a ver

"Well, that you are, but you're also a good man so at least that luck isn't wasted" She pats her father's arm, "Been meaning to ask you. Has Kassidy been pulling her weight in your opinion?"

"I know she's been enjoying playing, which is fine, but if she's to make knight by the time she's 13 she can't be seen slacking"

"Is that her goal?"
