"Hm." A nod. "And so you think this Varich for training in falconry, and another teacher for House Fiona basics. That may work."

"I think it depends on approach, if we tell Adam 'well you're weird and no one wants you full time', or even hint at that- he seems sensitive by nature, he'll be rightly upset, but if we explain we think this way works best for him because we think it is not only holistic, but because he seems talented enough and already trained enough to have TWO mentors or more.. then he might accept it. Besides, it's not atypical for houses, like freeholds, to have lessons from various tutors. My fencing master did not teach me poetry"

A nod. "Frame it as a response to his personal complexity." A bit of a brow.

"You know the lad better than I do, both of you. Sir Franklyn seems to suggest that because I did not immediately embrace the boy with enthusiam, he'll read it as not accepting him" A look to Frank to see if that's right, then he glances back "I didn't intend to hurt the lad, but nor did I want to lie to him"

A sigh. "I did tell him that this was merely a meeting, not an official mentorship yet."

"I asked Siv abit about him. She seemed to be ..hiding something from me. She insisted he had fought bravely for Rivervale, and was fearless. But while no Gwydion, I suspect she doesn't necessarily like him, or at least one of his habits gets on her nerves. Is there something I should know there?"

Brekke gives Frank a glance, then clears her throat. "He has had some history of being inconsiderate about the feelings of others. Especially, ah, in relationships." A slight coloring. "I believe Siv is angry on behalf of others."

"Ah" Sympathetic

"There is more to it, though..." she says. "Siv has had to work very hard at becoming Fiona. I think she is a bit concerned that Adam will receive honors without having to work for them as hard as she has."

"Well, that explains both why she defends him so hard one moment , and then looks ready to roll her eyes when she thinks I'm not looking," The satyr says "Well, we're all human.. partly. Well, that nixes the idea of having Siv help in the training if she wanted. Not fair to either of them"

She frowns. "I do not think she would sabotage him. Not consciously."

Defending her daughter's reputation.

"Not likely but possible subconsciously, more likelY? She might be afraid of being too hard on him in an attempt to compesnate"

"Mm." A nod. "Complicated." Then a sigh. "My hopes were that he would have a strong, positive interest in a mentor there...but it sounds as though Sir Sergei is the only one to achieve that, or at least his hawks, so far. Still, it is a start. I believe we should pursue that, to begin with. Sir Bachdion, would you petition on our behalf for Adam to be permitted to stay at EarthRunes for some nights each week, so he may study with the Master of Beasts?"

Frank nods.

"I hope to keep an eye out for a Fiona who matches him still better, but yes, if he's willing." A thought "I.. do have another thought I wanted to ask you about"

A sip of her coffee and a curious look. "Yes?"

"Well, I understand the Thomas do most of their work remotely. Do you think it would be better if we offered them a mortal rental to reside in in Missouri? They're unsained I know but I don't know if you think it would be helpful or hindering to Adam to have them nearby?"

"That...is an interesting question. I know that Brenda Thomas has sometimes considered relocating elsewhere. Hm. I can mention this to them as an addition to the discussion of having Adam be mentored there. However, I do not want them to think that it is my desire that they leave."

"I leave that to you, but if presented as a rental... then perhaps it might ease any inferred insult"

"If it meant he could focus on his instruction...." Her brow furrows. "I simply do not know. I have sometimes made decisions I thought best to help him, only to have him react sullenly."

"I've done that sort of thing. Sometimes students don't know what they want, so you give them what you think they do want, and the decide that they don't know what they want, but they know they don't want THAT." A sigh "of course, you try to give them what they NEED and they really get annoyed" A chuckle

A brow. "Very like one's own children, in that way."

"Well, I did mention to your husband that you had raised an amazing young woman." He says looking tempted to say more, pauses, then changes course "Perhaps we should ask Adam if he'd like his family near by?"

A brow...she didn't miss that redirect...but she merely nods. "I will ask him."

"Currently Adam is feeding young redtail hawk chicks while Sir Sergei looks for their mother"

"Hm. Perhaps I should return with you and speak with him."

"If you'd like I'd be honored to escort one or both of you"

A nod and a look to Frank. "Do you wish to come along?"

It is decided that Frank will remain and Brekke will go to EarthRunes. "Then let us be off." She rises.

Bachdion holds the door open for her, and follows

Kourtney and Sylvi have it, the solution to.. oh the Dreaming memories are fading

"Drat." She says

Coming over the bridge: "....it is NOT ugly!" She seems to have clung to that notion, regardless of whatever else has happened.

"Huh?" Kourtney says touching Sylvi's shoulder "what's wrong?"

Sylvi blinks a few times, then goes back to scowling. "Never mind. Let's go find Myrtle Anne. She might be at Torin's and that's closer than her place, so let's try there first."

Torins' place is a small cabin.. cozy. And they hear singing. sad. sad singing...

"I've taken down all of her pictures
I've cleaned out all of her drawers
I've painted over the scratches
From all of our little warsI've put away every gift
That she ever gave to me
Now everything is in its place
Except for her memory..."

"Ohhh...oh no...." Sylvi bites her lip, then knocks on the door.

"And where do I put her memory
When it haunts me night and day
I can't hide it in the closet
And Lord, I can't throw it awaaaay..."

Then the music stops and a voice says "Hello? Someone there?"

"Yes...Torin...it's Sylvi, and Kourtney's with me. We're looking for...Myrtle Anne?" she finishes hesitantly.

"Oh..." The door opens, and a slightly drunk skald peeks out looking as forlorn as the day is long "'m afraid we're a bit on the outs"

"Oh, Torin." Sylvi looks shocked. "What happened?"

"I'm not sure, I tried to tell her what happened at the farm wasn't her fault..." A glance to Kourtney "My sympathies to your kin... by the way... said her big mouth nearly killed the Hearth there. That you have a civil war ready to start. I told her it was gonna come out eventually.. the bit about Sally Mae and Carowyn, but she just got more upset saying her timing NOW was the worse.. I explained she was being silly... and then she said 'silly?" and I thought she wanted me to explain why... and I did.. and the next thing I knew..."

Kourtney winces at the mention of 'silly'
