"One of them HOWLED.. and then Oak HOWLED.. and Connor HOWLED..." Jack remembers "Boy they can howl"

Brekke nods to Jack. "It is good that they can. They can warn us of threats."

"Everyone is pretty happy..." Lip bite.

A brow. "Dame?"

"Uh, so. When Star was wearing the treasure bridle?"

"I mean, I had to explain to her so she could understand why the wolves were there, and that they wouldn't harry her..."

Brekke nods. "That makes sense. Easiest way to tell her clearly."

"Exactly. And that also meant she AND the wolves could talk to each other..." Nervous shuffle.

Definitely a furrowed brow, now. "Dame, what is it that you are not telling me?"

"Star's gonna have a baby."

"I mean, that's what she said and I'd figure she'd know?"

A blink. And another blink...then a hint of a grin as she looks towards the paddock.

"I was wondering if they would...."

"Am I in trouble?"

"That is...I assume it is Stormwake's child with her?"

Stormwake Looks so Smug

Lip-bite and nod.

A blink. "Why would you be in trouble?"

that it answers the question

"Because she's my responsibility?"

Again, a baffled blink. "Is she upset that she is in foal?"

"No! She seems very happy!"

Jack Flap says "She must be okay with it.. she didn't kick Stormwake in the head or bite his ear off or anything"

"Then...I do not understand why you would think you would be in trouble. You have kept them both healthy enough that they are happy, and healthy enough that she has been able to conceive. You have done very well."

Stormwake may look smug, but he is also tending to Star most endearingly.

"...oh..."

She puts up with this in moderation between shooing him off and basking in the attention in turn.

"I sort of thought you'd be mad, maybe, because... you know,,, more horses and..."

Jack Flap says "A pony? The girls will be all oooo 'pony'" he sighs "Girls, you know?" In this case girls is Lydia and Lily

"Well, the foal will have to be at least a little grown up before they're big enough to ride..."

Brekke gives a slight chuckle before saying, "Dame Dagmar, we have always found a way when new children arrive, regardless of how many legs they have. We will find a way. All is well."

A sigh and a smile. "Okay."

"Come, let us speak with the parents-to-be." She goes to the paddock.

Jack Flap nods "Yup. Rivervale has a tall roof but even bigger hearts"

A pleased nod to the satyr. "Well said."

Dag follows Chief over to the paddock, where the pair are definitely smug.

Stormwake moves to the Chieftain and then makes a 'come see' motion to Star

Brekke reaches a hand to offer Star a nose pet, complimenting her on both the race and the expected offspring.

A chuckle and she pats Stormwake's strong neck. "Yes, I have heard."

"He's worse than James."

She poses and looks smug as well.

Tail swish, pleased nicker.

And, is tracing closer to check pockets. Starving, she is, eating for two...

"Oh, the two of them have much to be proud of, as do your parents, Dagmar."

Jack laughs at mention of Jaymes, maybe he has seen something Dagmar and Tove hadn't.

"Greedy Gussie!"

Then to Star, "I am just back from patrol, and did not find carrots on the way. In the morning, I will bring them."

"Want me to get some , Chief?" Jack offers

"Well...she should not be spoiled...but this time, Jack, yes, please do. Two for him, two for her."

"She'll wind up fat as a cart horse."
