The Easter Rabbit springs out of sight... only seen by one child at a time, and apparently invisible to all tohers

Dagmar and the other Kings spent the morning at home - though the teenager was still happy about getting a basket full of candy.

Indeed, Dagmar was spoiled a touch.

It is another week yet until the big 1-6...

Oh yes.

"So is there anything you're wanting for your birthday? " Tove says "I think we can hook up May on a video kind of thing if you want to try?"

"Oh.. um." Guilty look.

"Do you think, maybe... like.. like I could get a smart phone?"

They exchange looks, then "Well, we don't want to get your hopes up, but we'll see. "

"I get it, if not..."

"May's phone, she can do these filters on face time, but hte computer doesn't..."

"Mmmm what are you looking for in it particularly?" His father asks

"So I could video with my friends? And, um, email would be nice too."

He scratches his chin then "We'll try. May not be..." An admission "May not be brand new"

Her father looks for just a moment like he's letting her down

or at least that he thinks he's letting her down.

"Oh, sure! Like, kinda dumb isn't it? If they get dropped or something..."

"So, like, it'd go in a case, anyways..."

"Can the case be pink with little flowers?" Her mom says. Gee, one Oath and they get cheeky.

Eyebrow.

Tove tries to keep a straight face, but her eyes light up too much to count.

"Mmph" Head shake from Jaymes ("She thinks she's funny tonight")

"She DOES."

"Huff" Tove goes ("Well, sometimes I am")

But she relents "Well, we won't make it pink if we can help it"

"IF we can get one" She adds, "but we will look into it"

"I know, I know..."

"Can we at least make burgers on the grill?"

"That" her father says "i can make happen"

"Manfire ooh ha ha" Tove whispers under her breath but Dagmar can hear it

Jaymes pretends he didn't notice and enjoys the Easter ham

In truth, if Dagmar wants, she'll be allowed to help with the grill. Though Jaymes insists on doing most of it.

And Tove rarely fails to enjoy a cool drink and watch him work through the window or out on a lawn chair.

Tove grins too, then says "I think this is going to be a nice birthday "

"Sucks that May and Lupe can't come..."

"Maybe Lupe? I bet werewolves are immune."

"Or they have some magical help" Tove ponders

Jaymes mmmm thoughtful like

"Probably?"

"probably . " he says "I think I know a way to get May here, but not sure how safe it is to enchant her"

"May's been enchanted before."

"She's a powerful dreamer but she didn't explode last time so..maybe.. yes. I think we could risk it." Tove says "But what about her parents?"

"We have resources.. temporary memory loss. " Jaymes says "Bit of fun. Make sure she's okay too. Use cantrips on any virus"

And it turns into a planning and plotting session on how to borrow a mortal and take them into the faire world so they maybe recognized as a fae friend

"if we...." "and she...." plot plot plot

nothing written in stone... but when you take into account temporary memory loss, shape changing, and ancient customs where the mortals involved will be rewwarded a bit for their kind loan of their time.. yes... yes it could just work. And having her friends would be a really GREAT gift.
