Knock at t he Rivervale door

Sylvi gladly gets up from doing homework and answers the door.

"Hello?"

"Ow. my back" Etsie says

The old satyress comes more into view, she was in a lurch "Sorry, tried picking up this scroll left for you and I think I got stuck"

"Etsie? You okay?" Sylvi goes to help her. "Come on inside and rest a bit."

"Oh I'm fine on the glamour.. it's the nervousa problems. Got hunted by a plague, I swear, it was this gibbering fuzzy cloud that saw me went 'Death to The Elders' and charged me. I Hear it's worse in other more populated baronies"

"Oh, geez. Yeah, we've had some nocnitsa attacks, but Mom was saying that there would probably be nervosa soon, too. It wasn't yours, though, right? I mean, somebody else dreamed it up, right?" She helps Etsie to a chair. "You want something to eat or drink?"

"Please, and I don't think this was mine. I got slammed around by it but it that Cap Boy came in handy."

Etsie flops into a chair.

And there is stomping from outside.

"Oh, you mean Dirk? Yeah, he's good at clobbering monsters. So, do you want coffee or something else?"

And she looks at the door as the stomping approaches. "Sounds like he followed you."

"He ate the plague nightmare," Etsie says "I almost felt sorry for the damn thing. ALmost. And honey, beggers anre choosers, if you've got coffee, I'll take it, if you've got whiskey, I'll take it, if you want to put a dash of one into the other, I'd love it."

Dirk enters in, goes up the the balefire, and beltches out glamour onto it

Redcaps, ever gracious.

Sylvi grins and nods to Etsie. She knows where her folks keep this whiskey, and start to oblige...but then Dirk comes in with that particular performance. "Ugh." She winces. Then, belatedly, "Uh...good job...?" And she hands Etsie her coffee-with-a-splash-of.

"Hey, like a bird feeding it's young. Chief taught me that shit," Dirk says, "It's SO Fucking cool out there right now. Nightmares of all sorts"

Etsie takes the glass, "Thanks, sweetie. How's school going? or lack of same?"

"Well, it's not all that pretty when a bird barfs up a worm into its baby's mouth, either, but it sounds like you're in your element out there. Just gotta watch out you don't carry it to people, I guess."

Sylvi sighs at Etsie's question. "It's all homework, all the time. At least at school you get to hang out with friends, and I've never appreciated a class discussion as much as I do right now."

"Ah, your mom hits me with a hollystrike now and then.. like the germ level...for the autumn version. The Chiemra version? If it glamours? I can kill it." Dirk says

Etsie frowns "What none of that online chatter? No ..ah 'face time' if that term is still used? Video conferencing?"

"Glad we've got you, then, Dirk. You're, like, a hero in all this." Sylvi grins. She means it, but she also knows Dirk needs to hear it.

"Oh, the video stuff is there, but it's not like a real conversation, y'know?" She sighs. "Or maybe I'm just being negative. I don't really like using the technology stuff in the Lodge as much. I mean, I'll text, sure, but a 45-minute video conference?" She shakes her head. "I don't want to do that near the Balefire."

"Nothing a bad ass wouldn't do. Sides, I like killing things, even little virus things"

She nods to Dirk. "And thanks for giving some of it to the Balefire. That really helps."

Etsie frowns "I see what your'e saying. But if the virus is kept out of here.. can you get a changeling teacher?"

Indeed the balefire is processing, purrifying and working

"Oh, I'm managing. It's nothing to worry about, Etsie, really, but thanks. Oh...you said there was a scroll...?"

"OH yes, here" She says and hands it over

It's to the Chief, but.. some of it beyond the name she doesn't understand. It's in some odd language

A frown as she tries to puzzle out the weird words.

Its that Norweigan?

With the dots and the o-with-slash and so forth. "Huh. Okay, I'll make sure the Chieftain gets it. She's helping out with food distribution at the Y right now, I think."

"Very noble" Etsie says

Dirk says "Why's she doing that?" he scratches his head

"Because she's nice would be my guess?" Etsie says

"Well, that's stupid. " Dirk says "We got a chance to cull the herd and help the environment. People cause pollution, so ... if the population goes down even like 5 percent... earth should do better right? She's a ranger, thought she'd like that. "

Sylvi blinks at him. "Uh. Yeah, okay, that's one way to look at it. But if people are scared, then they make more nightmares rather than good dreams, and we're not all redcaps who can fight them so easily."

"Not seeing a downside in it for me so far" Dirk says

Etsie blinks and looks over at Sylvi "He adds 'flavor' to the place, doesn't he?"

"That's one way of putting it," she mutters back to Etsie. Then a shrug. "Like I said, Dirk, you get to be a hero in this. But you'd be a pretty lonely hero if everybody else died off in the meantime. I bet Symon's having an interesting time with all this, too. How are he and AnneMarie doing?"

"And Dr. Lee, of course?" She's a little sheepish about having left out the mortal.

A scowl at something from Dirk "You know how hard it is to keep a sluaghwith ashtma to stay put? he keeps squeezing out of the stuff I put him in. "

"The stuff you put him in? You're...trying to keep him at home in a bag?"

"Well, I don't have a JAR big enough, Duh" he snorts

"Why do you think he'd want to go anywhere? I mean, if anybody was made for wanting to stay away from people, I'd think it would be Symon."

"Well, sometimes he's a contrary git" he says using brit slang because well, it's a curse word right? "The Doctor.. " A frown "We don't see him much. He's SUPPOSED to be a heart surgeon, but nooo ...Dr. Lee's got to help out with other stuff too. If this virus kills him I'm gonna find whoever started this and eat their head off... wiht a lot of SMALL bites instead of one big one"
