"Lovecraft, I could kiss you" Gerd says "you are so getting chicken if you can take out that mouse"

She licks at a paw. Perhaps yes, perhaps no. But her tail tip did twitch at the mention of Chicken. Not unlike Snow when someone says the F word... though Lovecraft would despise the comparison.

"White or dark meat, your choice" She adds

"Are you, striking a dark bargain with a CAT chimera?" Brogan raises a brow

Lovecraft stretches, paws out front as she arches her back. Her shadow seems to grow further up the wall than the lighting should allow, and her tail lashes once, twice, three times before she sits again. "...Both."

"The palest fowl, the darkest of the dark chicken meat," Gerd does indeed bargain, "Served upon an ill omened Ouija board"

The Darieann is pretty sure Gerd is nuts

A purr, and she brushes up against Gerd's leg, almost intangible to the touch, as she disappears into the kitchen.

"I better ready that board just in case" Gerd says

"I have to work in that kitchen, if the cat..." Brogan says

"Lovecraft" Gerd specifies

"If 'Lovecraft' turns it into a dark hellscape of rodent remorse, I will not be held responsible with the Hearth for your bargains" The squire says

"Yeah yeah yeah" Gerd says

(Meanwhile, or approximately so....) Brekke enters Lodge after a patrol, Oak trotting in seriously at her side. She hangs up her cloak before going to get a mug of coffee...and of course she sees the note. A sip, and she reads.

A sigh...then a frown...and then she sets the letter down on a table, and carefully traces her finger over Siv's signature before whispering, "Why is your author wearing an eyepatch?"

She relaxes marginally and nods, letting the rest of the cantrip's energy drift loosely, eventually finding is way to the fire.

While other questions could have been asked, it seems she has all she needs.

And that's.. when Brekke notices the balefire...

not that she's ever separate from it, but she feels it has been given something

A curious glance, and she approaches to give it a closer "look"...almost more like a closer listen....

There is glamour placed here earlier, not unusual, many donate to a bale now and then.. as she tilts her head.. .she feels.. it's Siv's glamour, she put a drop in.

And the sensation leads to her feeling like there's a kiss on Brekke's cheek, full of sass and warmth and yes, daughterly love.

Brekke might not be aware of the tender smile she's now wearing as she senses the gift left in the flames. Thank you, Siv.

Marching steps on the gravel outside.

She knows that step, and she prepares her husband a mug of coffee, grinning.

He enters, face like a thundercloud.

She turns to offer him the mug, but her smile fades. "Frank? What is wrong?"

"Siv." A rumble. "There was a note....."

"Yes. Here," she indicates where she put it. "I read it. Why are you so upset?"

He points with a scarred finger. "Eyepatch." Roughly.

"Ah! Yes, I saw that, too. Oh, Frank...I whispered the letter. She is fine. It is a trophy, nothing more."

A scowl.

"What is?"

"The eyepatch. She still has both eyes," she explains while putting the coffee mug in his hands.

"You're sure?" Intently.

There is a covered dish on the counter. Probably left by Kerri, or maybe Sallie Mae? Pyrex carefully wrapped with foil and left so that folk can enjoy at their leisure.

"What did the whisper say?"

An eyebrow at him. "I asked why the author of the letter was wearing an eyepatch. It said it was a trophy and a prize." She may be slightly offended that he needs the extra assurance. Very slightly.

"The eyepatch.... or the eye?"

An even more pronounced eyebrow arch. "I did not ask why she was wearing an eye. However, if you doubt my understanding of the Whisper, you should perhaps call her?"

Oh, he -wants- to. "She has a duty to EarthRunes now. She responded to that. Yes, I want to see her, to... hear from her. Vali and Dagmar were with her. We.... should check with them first."

That's when Vali walks in, and heads to the kitchen after nodding to the others "CHief, Olgar wants to show you something near the trod"

Frank turns away, going to his desk to move papers.

"I..." She is about to answer Frank, but then Vali comes in. A nod. "I will go, thank you, Vali. The Mountain needs to speak with you about your quest." A pointed look at Frank before she rests a hand on his shoulder briefly. An unspoken We will speak more when I return, and then she gathers her cloak.

And out she goes.

Vali stops his path to the kitchen, and joins Frank "Mountain?"

"Hmph." He pauses, turned away, and rubs his face. Clears his throat. "Welcome back." He turns.

"Good to be back" He says "Though what was supposed to be the Jaymes and Vali show got turned into two wilders and the grumps tagalong" A grin "They did good"
