Zane comes in the next morning, carrying a folder and a look of frustration.

Not seeing anyone, he muters "Hey dad, I'm going to be a wizard. I found my passion? What's that? you're not listening again? Yeah yeah, used to it."

"So we got a lot of satyrs coming in, so far no girls my age, except Piper, who is awesome, but a bit too dueling banjos to think about thanks"

"Well, not lots, not yet" He looks where to put the folder.

And finding a spot he puts it there, "So to everyone else I'm just a horn dog satyr, to my fellow satyrs I'm the weird one? this bites."

A look at the empty lodge, "And I'm...leaning on the girls. That's not fair." A breath "Maybe I can study at the farm. Not like anyone will miss me."

And out he goes.

Zane returns... whether he finds someone there or not, well, that's another matter.

He does. The Chieftain, in fact, is sitting by the fireplace, mulling over the folder he left before, which contains.... (?)

The news has three satyr names and a bit about each oen, apparently they showed up. Another didn't fit and left.

"Hey Chief, I see you got the.." That's when the door knocks , the dogs bark, well < Oak does and Brown Dog does.

"I'll get it," He offers and swings it open

She looks up. "Ah, Zane." Then, "thank you," as he gets the door.

The door opens and there's Adam

"Hey, what's up?" Excited. "You ready to WOAH......"

"Turns out the Chief is here and might have questions, so come in , we'll hang for a bit." A smile "more satyrs and she wants to be in on the loop. Long as dad's happy I'm good."

LIE.

Brekke's brow furrows at Zane's comment...or is it confusion about Adam's exclamation?

"Adam." A nod.

"Sorry, Chief. Uh." He comes in and glances around.

She looks from one boy to the other. "Is all well?"

"Yep!" Quickly.

"Everything's going smooth" Lie.

The boy has forgotten about Gwydions

(Adam's was true.... for what that was worth.)

"Can I get some drinks out of the kitchen, chief?" Zane says "I maybe going to the farm" A bit of a smile there that actually seems soon

"Of course. Then come and speak with me about these names." She watches Zane go with a touch of concern that may be clear to Adam.

Zane knows what Adam'ss favorite soda is, and comes out with it, and his own.

Brekke still has her own mug of coffee. "Zane, I see these three stayed, but one left. What can you tell me of the one that left?"

"Unseelie, asked how easy it was to work around you," he answers honestly "I got a bad vibe about him to be honest. Guess Dad didn't like his style as he got told it wasn't really a good fit."

"Mm." She nods. "Thank your father for me. What 'vibes' did you get off these others?"

"Lyron's pretty cool... and more desperate than he appears, not like he's up to something bad, more like running from it. " Zane pops his drink open.

"Then there's Etsie. She's okay. I guess. but not what I hoped , she's.. like super old. and I don't mean like 'anyone over thirty' is old. I mean she's like 80. Do you know how few satyrs manage to hold on that long into grumphood? SHe makes Sir Bachdion seem like a childling."

She nods about Lyron. "I got that impression, as well. He mentioned some difficult situations on his island."

A surprised look about Etsie. "Indeed. That is a remarkable age. I hope to meet her."

"The third one is a childling" A face "Little kid. I was hoping for ... well, none of these are what I was hoping for I guess."

Adam sips his soda.

She looks up. "A companion."

"A hot chick would have been nice" He admits "But no worries. I'm a satyr. that annoyance will pass"

The emphasis is not lost on her. "Other annoyances will not?"

"Sorry, Chief. I... dad and mom are busy. I'm having a hard time remembering that." A shrug "I have some good news, and neither of them are listening to me when I tell it, and .. I know it's me being sour, but it kind of kills the joy of it?"

A curious eyebrow. "Is it news you would be willing to share with me? With us," she amends, nodding to include Adam.

"Oh sure" he says "I don't know how much it means to a non satyr is all." But he does smile and looks at Adam, "Dude, was going to tell you. I found my passion." Then to both "I'm..well, I'm trying to become a wizard. I guess you could say the occult? The lore, the casting... the ceremony? That sort of thing"

And his mood has brightened.

Brekke blinks. "You...you do not mean cantrips. You are speaking of the work of mortal magics."

Adam's eyes spark for his friend, but he doesn't interupt.

"Oh I mean cantrips... I'm not a willworker like mortals are said to be, can't be. THe lore, the graymayre, the cantrips... I guess if I were a troll I'd be a mountain. After i made the desire bomb, Ifound out I'm good at thinking through magic... fae magic. There's rules even to it, sort of..well, more like a natural flow. Mountain Emmit is teaching me! But I've learned lots of things. Like, I ken better already. I know what Adam's boots do. I can conceive of things like veiling against a medusa so I don't know she's there and I won't meet her gaze. That sort of thing"

He gets excited "Oh I mean to learn of other forms of magic. Check this out. " he pulls out a coin, and it dances along his khuckles "Stage magic. I used to like it as a fawn but well, fell out. But it might make a good cover one day right?"
