Dagmar notices Sylvi's look, even as she tries to do her math without sluagh help.

The Varich isn't as good at it, though she's still helping

Eyebrow at Sylvi.

"Okay, I THINK we're supposed to use the Angle's measurement as X" Nadeen says

"It's like greek. Why can't they just ask a question like normal?"

"Wait till you see what they laughingly call a word problem" A delicate sniff

"I hate those."

"I think whoever publishes these things should realize good grammar isn't just for our English books"

Sylvi doesn't seem to be able to bring herself to care about angles. She props her chin in her hand. "I know this matters. I know it does. But does it have to suck so much?"

"Math?"

"How's Colton?" Nadeen asks as she chews on her eraser lightly

"Don't know. He hasn't texted in a while...."

She pouts at her phone.

"He said they're there, and I don't want to be blowing up his phone while he's trying to impress the Chieftain."

"Well... yeah, I get that."

"But it's Chief and Frank there... I mean, he'll be safe."

"And Symon" The young baroness says

She nods. "Symon'll spot anything hidden."

"I know, I just wanna know, you know?"

"And really Sylvi, I don't know why you're so fussy, don't you have a magic mirror or something?"

Sylvi sits up and blinks at Nadeen.

"I mean, I don't know what it DOES exactly.... but I thought you did or maybe ... "A shrug

Sylvi stands up. "Well, look at the time, I'll have to finish this later, thanks, bye!" And she's making a bee-line for the stairs. Then she pauses. "Unless you guys want to come up and look, too? Don't know if it'll work that way...."

"Well - sure?"

"anything beats this math"

She taps her nose.

Nadeen smiles, "maybe Sally Mae will come back in time tonight to help us. I know it's horrid to say, but is it wrong I hope she doesn't move bacvk to her farm partially BECAUSE I need her to help with my math?"

"C'mon!" Sylvi has left her books abandoned and is already heading to her room.

Nadeen follows

"Not that bad. I kinda agree." And following.

In her room, Sylvi is looking at the mirror when the others get there.

"OKay, that really is a pretty mirror"

"Anything?"

"I haven't tried yet. Hang on...." She takes the scarf she was wearing from around her neck and kisses it, then she murmurs quietly, "Show me Colton."

The flicker of Colton , looking a bit confused at the Chieftain and Symon, and Frank....

Theyr'e in some sort of ..well, it's like a faded picture of a freehold ratrher than a proper freehold... like an after image.. not so different from a nearly faded kinain who needs glamour

And more... Sylvi can see... shadow, burning shadows spreading tendrils... the others don't seem to notice it... but it's stroking the mountain's brow, not with affection, but as if feeling for cracks

"What's...guys, can you see that?"

"Oh, I can see Colton!"

"Faded, but.."

She raises her voice a bit. "Colton? It's me! I'm watching through the mirror. What's that black thing on the Mountain's head?"

"I think it's just for scrying, to actually send a message is..." Nadeen tries to explain it's unlikely.

Colton looks up, "Sylvi? I... I thought I heard Sylvi." He says confused "What think on the Mountain's head?" HE says baffled, clearly seeing nothing

"Or it could be better than that," Nadeen mumbles

"What thing?" She squints.

"Yeah, it's for actually communicating," Sylvi explains. "Cool, right?" Then to Colton again, "I see some kind of black misty thing on his head. It...it doesn't look good, Colton."

There is a shadow stretching out, stroking the mountian's brow, Dagmar can see it too

"Ohhh... okay, that's creepy."
