And moves quickly to the kitchen.

Stormwake isn't sure why Star's so miffed. She wasn't taking the carrot so he did.

She was CONSIDERING it, and it was HER carrot, thank youverymuch.

"She's gonna kick your ass and I won't stop her, y'know."

Ah, but she WILL be paying attention to him.

Siv comes out with an apple, "Red one, washed it off..."

Star trots right up to the gate and bobs her head towards Siv. Yes, that one. That is the one that is for Star! Smart girl.

A bit nervously, Siv holds the apple out, but tries to do so without risking fingers "She won't bite my fingertips off will she?"

"Flat hand." She demonstrates.

"Right" a smile and with excellent balance, Siv offers it up with her hand flat as a tray

"There you go, Star. Dagmar, make sure Stormwake doesn't try to steal another"

She delicately takes the apple, without her teeth so much as brushing Siv's hand.

"Oh she's such a lady" Siv approves

"You want to see if she'll let you ride? They both could use some exercise."

"She is!" A fond grin.

"Well, I do know how to put on the gear, and I certainly wont' do it like that pimple of a squire. " She gets the gear and tuts to Star, "Don't worry, it won't be too tight"

Dagmar has had a lot of practice with Stormwake - he knows the routine well. And a good trail ride is usually followed by hay and sweet grain and MOAR brushing...

Star has at least seen this routine.

And Siv starts to put it on star, following Dagmar's lead.

She is hesitant at first, but the memories of Stormwake trotting away down the trail while she hangs back behind in the paddock... a very NICE paddock, but still... she wants to go on the trail too, and as such, she permits the saddle.

Siv make sure there's room and pets and strokes, "It's okay. Dagmar wont' steer us wrong. I know you would prefer the better rider, but at least we'll stretch the legs."

"Use the snaffle bit - the red one, there? You want something that should be gentle on her mouth."

"Right, definitely" Siv does as directed. "here we go. This isn't that hard nasty one"

She takes good long moment sniffing at, and mouthing the bit, before permitting it into her mouth. She doesn't look pleased, but allows it.

Dag helps Siv, making reassuring noises to keep Star calm.

And when she's ready, Siv mounts (or tries to) Star, "There we go. " Her voice gentle, "Get you a work out."

Whup! A sudden weight on her back. More than a sidhe, but less than a weighty troll. She sidesteps a little, unsure.

A sidelong glance at Stormwake to make sure he's not snickering...

"Good girl, Star." Pat on the neck and she passes the reins to Siv.

Stormwake actually seems to be reassuring his fellow equine. a sound of approval

And with Siv settled, Dagmar hoists up onto Stormwake.

"Oh kay... nice to be taller than mom for once" A joke from Siv "Yes, Star, good girl."

Her ears flick back and forth like little radar dishes, trying to decide how well she is enjoying this. An eye on Stormwake, and she takes a tentative step, then another. Her neck twitches a little as she tests how the saddle sways with each step.

"Move with her, Siv. Like, well, balancing on the waves - right?"

It isnt' tight enough to pinch, and Siv nods , "Right. It's okay, Star. We work together so you find your pace and I'll adapt mm?"

and indeed, Siv follows Dagmar's lead and example and balances, setting the weight that is her into an easier settlling on Star as a result

"Let's go!" A whoop, and she encourages Stormwake into a brisk walk... or even faster, once they hit the trail.

Oh Stormwake is happy to go faster!

"On we go, Star.... i know you want to move "

That's a bit better. She cranes out her neck nostrils flaring at the breeze as she starts off walking. Oh, he's going to trot ? Not one to be one-upped, she trots as well. It might be a bit jarring to Siv, a staccato beat instead of the smooth rolls of the sea.

Siv adapts "Oh a bit of white water here"

"Stand UP in the stirrups and bounce in time."

"I am..mostly" She does so more though

Stormwake gives Dagmar a look. He'd like to see how folks handle a gallop

Dagmar encourages a canter, grinning.

And a canter is had!

Stormwake has a competitive streak and enjoys showing off

As they reach a bend in the trail where it widens. Star suddenly gives a whinny and bursts straight into a gallop, intent on passing Stormwake by!

"Hold on Siv!"
