Adam blinks and scoops up the boxes. "Nothing."

"Well, that was a lie."

"What spooked you?" She crouches to grab some boxes for him.

"Thought I saw something." Muttered "Nevermind."

"Hmph." She holds out the boxes for him.

"Thanks. Hey, sorry about before."

Shrug. "s'okay."

"Just... you ever been the new guy?"

Snort-laugh - not mocking, but one of experience.

"Few times, yeah."

"Ok, so... Yeah. Just trying to get to know people And stuff."

"It sucks. I've been here almost a year and a half now. Longest run I've had in one place..." She considers. "I guess I'm not new anymore. Weird."

The glum vanishes and he smiles with bright interest. "Siv's a junior too?"

"So you've met Siv, hunh? Yeah. She'll be a junior. She's a year ahead of me."

A pause. "You do sports? Fall tryouts are soon."

"Yeah, basketball."

"Yeah?" Hey, that's a real smile!

His own grows. "Yeah!"

"Well, cool. The guys team is okay. If you're alright on the court, they'll make sure you have a place to fit in at school."

Her smile turns mischievous. "And the girls team doesn't give them too hard a time."

"Guess they guy's team is about to get better." A cocky grin.

Snort. "Yeah, maybe, but the girls team is one of the best in the state." A smidge of pride leaking through.

"Good for them." A smirk.

"Gonna be first in the conference this year - just one game off of first last year."

He seems moderately impressed. "Yeah?" He puts the boxes on the shelf

She nods. "Uh-huh." A pause. "Good luck, you know? With try-outs?"

"It's a lot easier being new with being on a team/"

He nods. "Guess that one reason I'll try out."
