Brekke considers. "Let me speak with him." She goes to the car and leans to look in the window. "How many pits did you dig?"

"Five, and I hope your damn kids break their legs on them"

True!

Sam... makes a rather rude gesture at him.

A nod at that, and a nod to Wu before she turns to the other officer. "Five we can find and manage. If I am wrong, I will contact you for that additional help."

Devlin snarls and looks ready to spout something hateful, but officer Wu warns him "Say it, and I'll make your fillings spark. "

Officer Smith (No really!) shakes Brekke's hand, "Good to know. Thanks again for getting this bastard."

A slight headshake at Dagmar. Not disapproval, more like caution.

"Officer, trust me when I say it is our pleasure. Thank you both for removing him."

ANd the two police officers (And their scumball) drive off

Siv now feels safe to say it "What a horrible wretched evil waste of skin"

"Sorry." Lie.

Another headshake. "No need to apologize. I understand. But his is simply a mortal, and worthless. Beneath your notice, now, as he can do no more harm here."

She nods agreement to Siv. "There is nothing redeeming in him."

"So... four more to find? We could fill them in with shovels, I bet..."

"Interesting that he did not demand his axe back."

((Unless he did?))

Nope.

But Siv is looking at the axe "Mom... this head? It .. it WAS Cold Iron. It looks like he tried to sharpen and temper it so it doesn't count anymore...but it WAS cold iron."

"Shovels will help...but the land needs to heal, and that may take more."

"If it had stayed... his sharpening it direct on the anchor would have destroyed Klump"

A frown. "How did he get cold iron?"

"That... that's bad. Should I take it to the guy? No wonder Klump was so hurt..."

"Mm." Brekke nods. "It will need to go to the foundery, yes. But first, we must find those pits before others are harmed."

Siv ponders "if it were true cold iron still I'd be blinking out.. mom? A suggestion?"

When Siv points that out, Brekke reaches to take the axe from her reflexively, even if a bit too little too late. "Yes?"

"Aftrer we find those pits? Willowswhipser the wood handle... It you can affect , IT MIght know"

"Klump?" She calls.

"Mm." A nod. "I was able to gimmix it before. That should work. Until we can do that, we must put it someplace safe while we seek those pits."

Klump comes out "I am well."

The other pits are soon found, Brekke knows the signs thanks to years at her profession and a feel for the land. Klump helps. he seems to feel them as a...'gap, like a missing tooth'

Dagmar lurks rather protectively near the Glome, and thanks him multiple times for his help.

Klump pats her, "You saved me, you, and the Chieftain..and Siv. I will not forget."

"You're my friend. Friends help."

Klump's help is invaluable. Brekke makes sure to express her gratitude....and then she works at filling and healing the pits...and it's time and glamour-consuming, though she works hard at the bunks to make the glamour easier. They're still short-term bunks, though, so perhaps not as poweful.

Dagmar lends glamour again, if needed. No more Theos.

Siv does the same, a bit of glamour to her mother

In other words...she may be sacrificing a bit more of her own glamour for the sake of expediency, in the name of the safety of her land and those within it.

Brekke absolutely refuses to take Siv's glamour, though the offer is appreciated.

Siv Huffs a bit as she is refused. Clearly she finds her mother unreasonble, but so be it.

The iron of the head is dropped to the foundry with little fanfare.

And the axe handle is brought back to the Lodge for later questioning.

It is later that night when the Chieftain is in the hold and uses her willowhisper that the final revelation of the night occurs. Shimmering glimmering... it answers the question with an answer preprogramed "The Lady of Peacock Feathers sends her spite..and regards...and a puppet." Then the wood breaks
