Back seat, no complaints. "Okay, so there's a blinky nocker by the fire... you're gonna want to talk to her..."

"But first, we're gonna get the cold iron before anybody else finds it and it goes who knows where..."

"...there might be cops..."

"...and somebody died..."

"Welcome home, mom" Siv chimes in after THAT Info dump

Crammed into the passenger seat (at least it's not a compact car), Brekke listens seriously. "Cold Iron? Police and Death?" A look at Siv. "You should not be going to this."

"Well, mum, if it makes you feel any better" she hits the gas "Dagmar already pulled rank as a knight and forbade me to touch it" Around mom and dad, siv normally does the speed limit or near it so not to alarm her parents... but today? nope. Brekke gets to see her daughter show she can handle acceleration.

"Nadeen wouldn't be safe, neither, so she's with Dame Daffydil."

"Thank you, Dame Dagmar." Brekke nods, then "Dame Daffydil? I do not know the name."

"A Dougal nocker!"

"She was trying to stop the guy, and hanging on to his truck, but she jumped off it when it.. well.. went off the road and up in flames..."

A frown as she listens, one hand braced on the dashboard as she looks back at Dagmar. "This nocker spoke truly of these things?"

"Yeah. I told her you'd want to talk to her. And I made sure she was fed."

"Mm. Good." A satisfied nod, then she watches the road ahead. "Where did this happen?"

"On Coney and Newmarket."

"Off a cliff" Siv says

Then adds "That cliff if you want to be specific"

"Be cautious we do not get stopped by authorities on the way there, Siv." A look back to Dagmar, "Is the nocker wounded?"

"Not a problem mom" She pats her radar detector

"She didn't seem to be hurt, but her nocker was... thin? Faded?"

"She was looking better once she sat down, though."

"Must have cast a lot of cantrips plus the Cold Iron" Siv says and does slow down as they close on the area

Brekke eyes the radar detector...and wonders if Frank is aware of that particular enhancement.

"Mm. And this is why Siv must not get close."

It appears to have some notcker touches to it.

Where her daughter GOT this is.. mm hard to say

"Well, yeah. So... I got the big grill tongs, and oven mitts, so we shouldn't HAVE to touch it at all..."

Brekke recognizes the box, it's a big one... she herself did the carving. Stags and Does on the sides.

There is nothing chimerical about it, so it will do.

She notes the box... pity...I like that one...but it is for a good cause ... and nods. "Good thinking, Dame Dagmar."

"I don't know the best place to put it once we get it, though..."

"Bury it? " Siv asks "or.. smith it? I mean.. then it's not cold wrought?"

"Maybe the truck fire melted it enough?"

They approach an area and can see some smoke, no doubt from the wreck "I'll be " Siv says "Hope that doesn't spread"

"Oh shit..."

Brekke is quiet, but she eyes the flames carefully...and the sky. "You will not be able to drive close...stop some blocks away. There will be onlookers, but I think...I may be able to do something, before we get too close."

"Can I help?"

"You're going to use primal to make it rain aren't you?" Siv grins "or at least appear to"

"Hmph." A wryly miffed look at Siv. "Stealing my thunder, as it were. Yes. I wish to drive off the onlookers and tamp down the flames...but it will make the ground difficult to navigate." A look back to Dagmar, and she considers, then nods. "I think you can."

"Darn, I should be able to assist, I'm darn nimble" she says

"I can make thunder!"

"You will keep the car running, Siv, and cause a distraction if need be...but do not get caught. You will also alert your father."

"A distraction, got it" She says "here..." She hands her mom a spare key "In case you two have to smuggle out the cold iron while I do distracting here. I won't get caught if it comes to that"

"You had better not. You have dross?"

"Actually brought more than usual... because we could ALL use it" She hands one to her mother "Got two more just like it" And another To Dagmar "Okay, one more now. One each. If you two are going to be out there casting cantrips you need it"

"Oh, sure.." She eyes the bounty with some measure of skepticism.

"And you'll be the ones closest to the darned cold iron" Siv adds

"Oven mitts. Won't touch it." The confidence of the educated but inexperienced.

Brekke does not argue. She accepts the dross with a quick nod, and pockets it. "You will not need to touch for the effect to happen. You will see." ((Did Siv stop the car? If not, assume Brekke directs her to pull over at a spot.))

Siv has by this time pulled over, perhaps a bit closer than her mom likes but not too close.
