Siv pops out as quickly as she popped in.

"Can I stay for dinner? I don't think Jaymes is home yet...."

Brekke rises from her fireside seat and carries her carving box away to set on a shelf before refilling her coffee.

"Of course," Brekke nods.

Putting things on the table as directed, Siv grins "as good as this smells, it would be cruel to have you sniff and not get hardly any"

"Right. I was just gonna maybe make a PB&J to tide me over..."

Kerri brings out some jugs of water, juice, and beer (not all mixed together) and sets them on the table.

"Yes, but it is dinner time, so you might as well eat. I will beg Jaymes forgiveness, if necessary." Brekke says.

Siv gives her mother an amused look.

"Siv, get plates, please?" Kerri directs. "Others will likely show up soon. Sylvi always seems to be a bit late getting back from practice."

"If I save him a plate, I bet all would be forgiven. Though did you know he can get free slushies?"

"Yes, Aunt Kerri" Siv says and goes into the kitchen to get the plates.

"Free slushies? I do not know if that would substitute for dinner."

"I think that depends entirely on the size of the slushie."

A laugh from the kitchen at that

And then Siv comes out with the plates

"Hmph." Brekke is slightly amused at the idea of slushie feasts, and she takes a plate as Siv sets them down.

"Thank you, Hearth," she nods to Kerri as she starts helping herself to a serving.

"Of course, Storm," Kerri responds with a grin, handing plates to Siv and Dagmar before taking one for herself.

"Are those potatoes or the other things?"

"Thank you Hearth Kerri." She takes a plate, and considers the roasted veggies.

"These are the sweet ones," Kerri says. "Try one."

Siv prefers the regular ones, but knows that she should bias Dagmar on them.

Brekke takes a healthy portion of the veggies as well as the meat.

A fair number of carrots in a carefully proportioned scoop, but a little of the potentially-poisonous parsnips.

"My pleasure, Dagmar," says Kerri.

"You can make anything taste good, Auntie K," between swallows.

Kerri gets a text boop

"It helps to have an audience of healthy appetites," Kerri points out.

A blink. "Oh...scuse me..." She steps a bit away to look at her phone.

A careful test - the parsnips are deemed safe.

Kerri finishes a return text and puts her phone away. "Chieftain, Olgar is bringing in a trainee to join us for dinner."

"A trainee?"

Siv seems surprised

"A rover? Are all rovers trolls?"

"It's a trollish society, so yes"

An interested look. "We will welcome him," Brekke nods.

Voices come to the door "You told me it was cold up here, I thought the leather jacket would be enough. Didn't know I'd need to skin an elk"

Olgar's voice responds "Cry me a river, kid."

"Well, I mean, we have some non-trolls at the Lodge..."

"Connor!" Siv smiles

"And Symon and DIrk when they visit, Symon for sure is one of us"

The door swings open, Olgar grunts "WIpe your feet."

"My, aren't we tidy?" The younger troll says

"You leave mud stains, I leave blood stains. Comprende?" Olgar says

The sound of wiping on the welcome mat

"Exactly." She snags a heel of bread and gnaws at it while watching for the newcomers.

Olgar enters in, and behind the blight faced grump is a wilder guy who has a slightly cautious look about the place.

"Introduce yourself, then sit down" Olgar orders.

"What, a,re you my travel agent?" The wilder mutters, then says "Yo, I'm Hastien. Nice lodge"
