The big news appears to be Jaymes' Samhain proposal though Tove and Jaymes both down ply that a little around Dagmar. Fortunately, school calls... and the kids have to go back to it. Or maybe unfortunately, depends on how you look at it. Sylvi is feeling much less peacock now, and might even feel a bit sheepish.

Once that fear is addressed - and rather swiftly and admirably so by Tove - Dagmar seems to be warming up to the idea. She certainly wants Tove around, even if she is nervous about changes to her still-new home situation

Mrs. Havensack looks a bit tired but very happy in the morning, and the other classes go..all right. It's between classes that Dagmar walks past some mean girls. 'She's such a giraffe..." For a moment she might think they're talking about her. But no.

Amber eyes narrow.

"I don't know, do Giraffe's have buck teeth?"

Laughter

Dagmar turns nd notices her friend, May slouching her shoulders, her cheeks blazing red as she just tries to move on

Dagmar glares, and then.... SHOVE, into a locker.

Sylvi's heading for her locker when she sees this. "Whoa...Sam..." She figures Dagmar's got a good reason, but still, this is a problem. She keeps a lookout for teachers. "What's going on?"

"Somebody's bein' a catty bitch."

The girl Dagmar just got shoved into a locker says "HEy, are you crazy?"

the other mean girl hisses, "Let her go, you ghetto skank" though she's wise enough to stay out of arm's reach of Sam

"Maybe. So don't talk shit on my friends."

"Oh, try me, c***."

May moves forward "Sam, please, don't... it's okay."

"Y'know, don't try her. It'll hurt. A lot." Sylvi's got a sense of it now, and goes to stand between the mean girls and May, giving Sam backup.

"Yeah 'sam' we could get you expelled" the other girl warns..then frowns as Sylvi joins in. /The one pinned is less bold. "It's just a damn joke"

Then more quietly, "Let her go, Sam. She isn't worth it."

She rolls her eyes. "Watch me care. Don't 'joke' about her. It's not funny, it's mean bullshit and you know it."

She lets the pinned one go. "But I guess picking on somebody weaker than you is only okay when you do it?"

The one let go scrambles back to her friend, "Let's.. go, this bitch is crazy" And they're in retreat

A feral glare at the retreating pair.

May says "Why did... Sam, you could get expelled, please. I'm not worth that."

"You're my friend." Bluntly.

A bit of a smile at May. "Don't even try to talk her out of it, May."

"You know they're going to be gunning for you, now," she adds to Sam.

"Which would matter if they mattered." A shrug.

May looks at them both "I... look, I know what it can be like, sometimes they make me so mad. I get this anger in me and I want to hurt them,but you have to push it down. "

"Like I care? Ohhhh, they're gonna say mean stuff?"

"They can ruin your rep, or try to get you kicked off the team" May says

"I don't care. They don't get to be like that to people."

Sylvi grins a bit more. "Sam's rep is solid with the people who count. That's not changing. But...she's not wrong," she shifts to talking to Dagmar. "At least in school, they can make things difficult. Just...don't actually hurt them. That'll get you in trouble at home, too." A significant look.

"I didn't hurt her! One shove!"

I can't use her... A voice seems to say to Dagmar, only she hears it.

"Yup. So don't do it again."

"She got the message, I'm betting. And now they know May's got friends. Okay, May?"

"You're great, Sam. thank you." May says, "I DO appreciate it, and...thanks, Sylvi. Both of you looking after me helps."

"Looking after you? You're not a baby. We're just standing next to you. There's a difference."

May laughs "Yeah I'm a bit tall for that, how's cheerleading?"

"It's good! I'm still looking forward to doing the gee-wow stuff, but it's fun learning the floor routines. Split jumps are hard, but I'm getting it." A sidelong glance at Sam, who's still seething, before asking May, "How's basketball?"

"Oh we're great going to play our first real game soon, and I'm getting so many tips from Gonzalez and Sam. I really feel a lot more confident"

She rubs the back of her neck, frowning. "Sorry if I scared you."

"I scare myself someetimes" May admits "it's all good."

"I just... I don't like bullies."

Sylvi sighs. "My mom says that most bullies are like that because somebody we don't see is scaring them. I don't know if that's true, but...well, Mom's pretty smart, sometimes. So, maybe."

"they always seem pretty confident to me" May admits.

"Some, maybe - but yeah, some are just mean. Most girls are mean."

Outside a window, they see a motorcycle pull into the teacher parking area, a guy, a grown man in fact takes his helmet off . He looks a bit like a lighter haired patrick swayze back in the day. Since Road House is a regular thing at the lodge, they probably can make the comparision. He walks, no, strides with easy relaxed confience.
