"Totally!" May says with new confidence

Sylvi's apparently caught up in a series of back-and-forth texts, and she's grinning at the screen.

Siv looks to Sam after May's good bye "She seems nice!'

"She is!"

A pause in the texting. "You guys ready?"

"Yeah. Is Jaymes or Olgar picking us up?"

Siv says "Oh Olgar is"

"Well, I hope he's already there. I don't want to wait." She shoulders her backpack and heads for the door.

"We'll catch up in a sec." She whispers to Dagmar once Sylvi is on the other side of the door "She didn't make the A squad for cheerleaders'

Her phone is still in her hand, and she divides her attention between walking and texting.

"Oh, is she JV? That's cool, I think B-squad does the girl teams! She'll be at the games!"

"Uhm. no, she's just not going to do it"

"What? Why not? I think... she's acting weird..."

"I think her ego got bruised so she's overcompensating' not sure. Try not to take anything she says or done personal. It's so not about us."

Olgar greets his daughter outside in the mini van. Not his favorite ride but it holds more

"Hi, Dad." She climbs in, still texting.

"Hey, where are the others?"

Dag tromps along. "I hope she feels better in the morning."

"They said they're coming." A shrug. "I decided I don't want to do cheerleading after all. Or basketball."

"Why not?" he asks.

Siv and Dagmar approach the mini van talking to each other it seems

"me too" Siv ssays

"Well, we have a real patrol coming up. So that'll be fun."

Sylvi puts her phone away and shrugs. "Not my thing."

"Huh." He tilts his head "Did yo uat least try?"

"Yup." She stretches her arms over her head in a way that might make her father uncomfortable. "That's how I know it's not for me."

"Huh. never curl up, that's all I'm saying" He rumbles as the others get in "Dagmar, Siv, how'd it go?"

"Good! I made the team."

"Nice! I almos feel sorry for the other guys" Olgr says "Siv?"

Siv blushes "Ah... well... you know, there's gymnastics?'

She punches Siv's arm (gently!) "Aw! Awesome! Congrats!"

Sylvi blinks at Siv. "You tried out?"

"Well..." Siv says

"You didn't make it?"

"Well, see I ...ah.. dad and mum wanted me to try something. Ain't that a kick? For once they want me doing things? And they have gymnastics which they suggested, but... did you know this school also has a dance team?"

"I've heard of the dance team. People say they're okay."

"SO?"
