As Groundings go, Dagmar is pretty sure Jaymes is doing it wrong. Not that she has to tell him that.

Here they are, she's 'grounded' and yet, playing Basketball, or learning how to a bit, from him.

And here at a small public park, shooting hoops.

Dag passes the ball from hand to hand, looking up at the hoop. "Okay..."

"You wanted to get some more basics before trying out right? Watchout for double dribbling that sort of thing"

"Right... I've played some before, just - not on a team, like, formally. Just shooting."

And - she makes an attempt at a shot. While her strength is superhuman - that doesn't make her a slouch otherwise. Decent dexterity - above average - if not legendary.

"Good aim, fantastic distance. You might be quite the three pointer" He nods

"Sure... you do sports, when you were my age?"

"Little bit" he says "Never really as into it as some, and it's been awhile. For the longest time recently the sports we did on Thyle were more like what you might see on the history channel"

"Oh yeah? Like what?" She dribbles, lining up another long shot.

"Well, wrestling is big, heck, we even had water wrestling, very dangerous...as you hold you foe under water... " A pause "there were games with balls...Knattleikr but it's a lost sport elsewhere. Think of baseball I you were allowed to tackle other people while the ball was in play?"

"now my mortal days, I did spend time playing football for a year. I wasnt' bad."

"I bet. You're strong, bet you did defense..." Shoots - it bounces off the rim and she jogs to retrieve. "I like that defense is a big part of football."

"I was defense" He nods "And I sacked quarterbacks. kind of fun."

"Bet I could play football... y'know, Siv might like basketball. She's fast."

"She might, and ah... " A cough

"um." he seems stuck on something

"What? She too grounded for sports?"

"No.. I just, well, I might say something and I worry it's gonna get your dander up"

"Is Siv mad at me? What's wrong?"

"No.. no, Siv is fine. It's the football thing. uhm.. girls don't play Football"

"...Oh."

"I mean, not always - but I bet I'm strong enough I could."

"Yeah, you probably could. Hell, you tackle anyone they'd sure feel it. I just didn't want you thinking I'm ..ah sexit. I'm supposed to tell you can do anything you work hard at and there's a lot of truth to that."

"I don't think I'd wanna be on a team with a bunch of boys, anyhow. Now - SYLVI, she might try out just because. She likes being contrary."

Jaymes laughs "She doesn't, doesn't she? Yeah. You're all wonderful young ladies but you each have your quirks. Let's not tell Sylvi about it then. Okay, let's pass the ball back and forth a bit. Fundamentals may not win cheers but if you lack em it sucks"

"Kay..." Agreeably enough, and she tosses the ball at Jaymes. "Sylvi said she'd try out for basketball too, though."

"Oh she did? Huh, if she enjoys it. I thought she'd go Cheeerleader, but works" THey pass it back and forth, picking up the speed.

'She's talking that, too."

"Me, I like more of the spring stuff. Did you know that track ain't all running?"

"Yup. Bet you could chuck shotput like no one's business if you wanted"

"Right?! It isn't nearly as big as a caber!"

A grin "Hey, sounds like your thing. We'll keep the option open in the spring."

"And softball, too. Basketball... dunno. I'm okay if I don't make it, you know?"

"I am too. The important thing to me is you have fun and you give it all you got while you're in it"

"I can do that. I like sports. Better than sitting still..."

The pace o the ball, patterns, and he works with her "Well, I like watching sports so I guess you'll have to get used to me in the stands when I'm not at work"

"You better! That's what dads do!"

the ball slips past him on the next return as..he got distracted there

"Jay-ames!" She laughs and chases after it. "That wasn't even a hard toss!"

"Whoops" He says and the normally stoic man tries to fight a smile and ..utterly fails "I don't suppose I can tell you that was deliberate to teach you how to adapt when one of your team mate's slips?"

"I think you missed, that's what." She returns, dribbling rather than carrying the ball. "Think fast!"

Thiss time he does and gets it. Indeed, he seems even more energetic than beffore

Even these two might break a bit of a sweat when... Dagmar hears a girl's voice "let me.. go"
