"Cats" He says as if that says it all

"I like them."

"How about the dogs? I know you like Brown Dog there... because he's trying to get you to rub his belly."

"He reminds me of Oak and Edie, just smaller."

She also obligingly rubs Brown Dog's belly. Good boy.

"Old Race Dog is..he's a good old fellow, but he's veery old, can't rough house with him much" He's thinking this all through

"But he needs a good place more than most."

"Like Odin - not everybody would put up with him."

A nod "Good points on both counts"

"What about Shaggy Little Thing and CAF?" naming the other two dogs "Like ither of them?"

"The puppy is really cute, but puppies are a lot of work, too. The shaggy one doesn't seem to know she's not a real dog!"

"Heh, no, she doesn't" he says, amused "She's got spirit at least. And yeah, CAF is definitely going to be some work. they all will, but she's the youngest."

"I think Mack'd fit in just about anywhere, if they don't mind her doing her own thing."

"Cats are usually self sufficient" He says "But the will shred you if you try to belly rub em or so I hear. I.. ah haven't have a pet in a long time."

"Only if you do it at the wrong time..." she shrugs. "I've known cats before. They aren't so... forward as dogs, you know?"

"If a cat likes you, you know they like you and aren't just faking."

"That's nice" He says thinking it over.

then a look "We both agree on the guinnea pig being out at least."

"Deal."

A nod. "Definitely talk to Eden about that one."

Brown Dog is chewing even as he gets his belly rubbed. Life is..amazing!

She chuckles. "This one is just happy to be here, right?"

"Yeah, He's pretty easy to please" Admits "But also a bit energetic, and rambunctious. It's all balance. I..."

the door opens, and a tired looking Tove comes in, mud on her shoes which she clears off. A very tired looking Greyhound by her side.

"Whoa..."

"I let him off and said 'run' and... well, by Frey, I didn't realize..." Tove is amazed. "I lost him over the horizon faster than you can say ...well, run."

"Yeah?" She sits up. "How fast you think he got?"

"Greyhounds can hit 45 miles per hour" Jaymes says "I looked it up."

While Brown Dog is still getting pets, she extends a hand towards Racer. "That's pretty fast."

"Forty five...yeah, that would explain it" tove says embarrassed and blushing al ovely purple

Racer is panting heavy, but not so much he can't lean into a head stroke

Tove adds "When he ran off, I thought I lost him for good, I went after him..and lord, it.. ah... well, I was sure you'd both be mad if if I...forty five miles per hour? " She says "Okay, I'm used to different types of dogs"

Jaymes is fighitng a powerful urge to chuckle at Tove's expense. "Sled Dogs are more for endurance."

"Greyhounds, almost all of them are used for racing, and kept in cages until they're too slow to keep competing."

"That's horrible" Tove says offended on their behalf

"Yeah. Nobody cares about them, just what they can get outta them. Ain't right."

"mmph," Tove says eying the racing dog with even more empathy than before, "Well, if no one else takes him, Dad and I will." Choice made, not even asking her dad

"You hear that?" She asks the greyhound.

Racer, tired, but keen enough to realize the fuss is about him, noses Dagmar, then goes to do the same to the bare leg of Tove. /tove jumps abit "hey."

Tove bends down to stroke him, "Don't scare me like that okay, old fellow? We'll find a stretcch of land you can race on but not risk getting lost. I'll take you there once a day"

Jaymes nods at Dagmar, silently congratulating her

"Sometimes it's nice just to run. I get it."

"Right, guess he likes using his speed like we trolls like using our muscle now and then" Tove says

"Makes sense... oh, but look, he's sacked out already."

"So he is," She says sympathetically, "he was just doing what hew as trained to do.I take back half the panicked things I said about him."

"Only half?" Jaymes says

"mmph," Tove pets the now snoozing dog "give me time."

"Seems fair." She stretches. "Imma go check on Odin."

"See if he's getting into trouble eh?" A nod "Okay" Jaymes says "Good idea." He motions brown dog over to him
