"Sally Mae..." Brekke finally looks at her, and shakes her head. "It is my hope you will trust my instincts on this matter, and return to the Lodge with me now." Voice low and even.

"Yes, Chieftain" She say "Odran, I ..don't know what you're hiding or why, but there's clearly more you want from me than... I don't know. Was a time a true troll not of the family showed an interest I'd have gushed, and given...but...no, something is going on." She readies to leave with Brekke//Odran's eyes darken a moment, then "I see. Well. I'll be off then."

"You do not wish to explain yourself more fully?" A final challenge.

"No. " He answers truthfully "But you've just ruined what would have been a glorious destiny"

Her eyes narrow. "Destiny? I see." Without looking away from him, she says, "Sally Mae, begin heading back to the Lodge. Now." She puts herself between the two of them, blocking his view of the kinain.

And she moves, indeed, she picks up the pace

Vali has stepped out of the lodge , weapon in hand

She takes a few slow steps towards him, speaking low and rhythmically: "As you turn and walk away / Each step will steal another day / Of memories of Sally Mae."

"NO!" he throws something at her...

She's focused on the cantrip, and no weapon in hand, so it probably hits her, whatever it is.

Actually, whatever it is, freezes in mid air and falls to the ground...

and then.. and then, Ordan Klay looks confused "Where..what am I ..."

Vali hisses as he approaches "Chief, remember what I said I saw? Sally Mae is tied to the hearth"

Brekke answers the confused young man. "It does not matter. Go." She puts a hand on his shoulder, and turns the confused man, walking him away from the Lodge. "You got turned around and ended up in the wrong place. I think you were seeking Firnost. I can put you back on the trod that's the first leg of that journey, but you will have to take another trod to finish, and that is a Nightmare trod. Be ready when you get there." She marches him directly to the trod towards Everwyrd.

A hand up to forestall Vali explaining anything further.

And off he goes, Vali follows the chief to where they send this guy off. Indeed, the Beaumayn doesn't seem to consider that he'd be anywhere else

"Oh, I hate to do this, but I must ask a token of you. It need not be anything of value, but it is the price of taking this trod." This time, Brekke thinks to herself.

"AH,yeah?" The fellow says confused "What do you...what do you need?"

"A button...a bit of hair...a coin..." She shrugs. "It is your choice."

"Never give hair..or blood" He mutters as if repeating something "Only the..heh sorry I'm feeling loopy" He pulls out his walllet, and draws a coin out. Something else falls too.

If he doesn't notice it, Brekke puts a foot over it as she takes the coin. "My thanks. Travel safely." She gestures him into the trod.

And Ordan's gone. A quarter will probably not help her much, ordinary, recent, and yes from Missouri which doubles his story about Firnost. but off he goes. And she can lift her foot/Vali says "The vision broke, undone, no longer going to happen. At least not that way. Sally Mae, why didn't I think of her?" HE curses himself

The item left behind appears to be three condom packs,

And if she looks VERY carefully, there are tiny holes lanced through each package

She picks the things up with clear distaste, and she does indeed inspect them because that's exactly what she suspects. "Bastard," she pronounces in a low grumble. She hands the packets off to Vali. "He interacted with these, at least enough to damage them. Can you determine anything about who he works for?"

He muses and mutters "Sec" And casts an omen

"And yes...we should all have thought of her."

"He was the cause of the vision" a confirmation "And I suspect House Balor is who he answers to."

A grim nod. "Snake." A sigh. "We should check on her." She turns to head back to the Lodge.

"So, let me get this right, a member of House Balor wants to knock Sally Mae up... "A scowl "So she'll be sure to have children. That's..new"

"A different kind of recruitment drive, I suppose."

"Yeah, " A scowl "Sometimes I don't like the escheat"

"Nor I." A sigh. "Dreaming willing, he will remain confused and disoriented for a long time. Perhaps even lost on the trods, though I should not wish that."

"Wait. What did he throw...?" She turns and goes back to where she encountered them, where she was standing while casting her cantrip, and seeks the thing on the ground. "Thank you for interrupting that, by the way, Vali."

"I didn't know what it was, but I figured it wasn't good" He said "Then again, according to the stories, Brekke, Breaker of Shackles, can devour wildfires and crumble swords that deign to strike her with a stern glance. So it might not have hurt you much.."

the darts are long tipped and have serpent designs. Frozen or not, its' clear these were a chimerical poison.

A snort. "Frank tells most of those stories."

"I know, they're great" He grins, then frowns and scowls as he sees the darts "Nasty son of a ..."

"Well...that clinches it." She crouches down beside the darts. "Again, thank you. That would have been very unpleasant."

"I should have brought him to Hemlock. I would have, if I had thought to look at these."

"Who had time?" He points out

"Hm." She reaches down and uses a fingertip to write Shhhhh. in the soil.

"You fugued him and had to keep an eye out that he was handled. " Vali reminds "But... why not put word out that he's to be arrested if he's seen in your fief, pass word of him along to the County, and ...well, now for the hard part. Who wants to explain to Sally Mae that she was almost used as abrood mare for Balor?"

Instead of answering right away, she murmurs to the darts: "Who crafted you?"

A nod. "And what are the names of Kretin's masters?"

"Whiter than white, faded, devoid... is the name under which he's involuntarily employed" It seems to resist this question

Brekke puzzles over that one, baffled. But the cantrip won't last forever. "Where would I have to journey to find the slave named Kretin?"

"This I do not know, they move him about along red and black roads. He works for one son, then for a sister. Slaves are like shirts, borrowed for a time. Best avoid questioning further, less they try you on for size"
