Kerri pulls up a stool and sighs. "Siv...I know I'm not hard on the eyes, I'll own that. But when I first came here? I was a meek little thing, head down all the time. It took me a good year before I really found my footing and my voice."

Grumps. "Thought you were cooler than that."

A chuckle at Dagmar. "Now, there's nothing wrong with grooming. But all the grooming in the world won't beautify a glum heart."

"Well, like, being clean maybe... but not, like, spending hours and hours staring in a mirror."

"Huh, to hear Olgar talk you were the hotest thing in the County" Siv says her brow knitting as she starts to put what her dad said of her mom along with what Olgar said of Kerri

"Well, I'm sorrry me sailing seas and killing things is only impressive if I don't look good doing it" to Dagmar

"What's wrong with you?" Glares.

"Siv, Olgar only met me after I got my bearings. After I figured out who I am, and what I am."

"Dagmar...why does it worry you?"

"Because... because why you gotta go be some stupid girly-girl, too?"

An arch look from the Grump. "A stupid girly-girl...like me?"

Taken aback. "No..."

"I AM a girl... and an adventuerer, and a warrior, and a daughter, and a sailor. I don't have to be just one thing. I can do anyth..." She shuts up "No, tha'ts not true. I'll never be the prettiest, you're right. I won't be able to hang round mortals because of my..flaw..and Hanging around sidhe means I look bad. No winning there.. but I still would like to try."

"You can be all those things, Siv, and beautiful. Don't try to compete with sidhe...that's a non-starter. But if you think for a second that I 'settled' for Olgar because I couldn't get anybody else, you need to know that's not the case."

She stops at what Kerri says "I guess I... just.. I don't hate sidhe, or didn't. ANd I don't want to hate them. I don't want to be that..shallow"

Dagmar breaks a chunk off her cookie, gone quiet.

"I don't want you to hate sidhe, either...but I did, for a while. Well, better to say I was very frightened by them at first. I worked my way up to very intimidated over time. Ladies, you will be hurt by sidhe if you let their beauty and haughtiness be your measuring sticks."

She lowers her eyes a bit "But, it seems all boys notice at first IS looks. "

"And the first thing you notice is sparkling intellect?"

"The boy who said you were 'too tall'...what kith was he?"

"Clurichaun lad."

But it is clear pointing out that she's not exactly noticing brains first has pinked..well, purpled at the point made

"And can you imagine how he felt, surrounded by that gloriousness?"

"You're making me feel sorry for him.." An accusation

"That's not my intent. I want you to see what might have been going through his mind, such that he had to lash out at you with criticism."

"And why the others weren't meaning to ignore me so much as... afraid of the ones they...." A pause "Da says Sparrow got attention she didn't like, and some folks didn't look BEYOND her beauty. This is not at all like Teendream magazine said it was"

"Pretty girls get grabbed, if they like it or not. Bet you won't like it once it happens, Siv."

A concerned look to Dagmar. "I don't think she meant 'grabbed' in the sense of 'assaulted'....a certain level of playful roughhousing is normal, to a point. But the moment either party grows uncomfortable, it must stop."

"And if anyone tries to grab you like the way you're saying, you use that muscle of yours to get free, and you come tell one us, you hear?" Siv says feeling protective of the yougner girl

"Least you're a troll, you could stop anybody who tried."

"Well, non trolls shouldn't have to put up with that shite either" FIrm nod

"No, but it's harder when they're bigger than you."

"That's true, and I hope you'll keep an eye out for kith, kin, and mortals in situations like that, and intervene."

A flicker of expression on Kerri's face. "True."

"Just sayin'... don't see why everybody's in such a rush for boyfriends and shit." Mopey.

"Because there's a difference tween a boyfriend and sexual assault attempt..or should be"

"Not everybody, Dagmar," Kerri says gently. "And as in all cases, your mileage may vary. I know the Chieftain....well, that's not for me to say."

"Well, I ain't gonna."

"that's your right" She says "And.. as for Ma. I can tell you she done well for herself. She's the reason I'm not in a rush to... "A blush "well, somethings wil lwait"

"And nobody is saying you need to."

Harrumphs. "Yeah."

A grin to Siv. "Good thinking there. No need to become a nun, but...no need to rush to an imaginary finish line."

Definitely blushing "Yeah well... don't tell Da about that. I don't need him smug till I turn 18 or 21 or whatever."

Kerri raises a hand. "Not a word, unless he asks me directly, which I doubt he would."

"Ha" A bit of a laugh "He'd probably choke on his tongue trying" Sigh "Anyone else having trouble with love? Sides me I mean? Just me then?"
