"A regular physical is part of the process, normally."

"I'm a bit confused on what process we're talking about. This seems out of the blue...no pun intended"

Then to Siv, "It is in order to ensure your...reproductive health." Stoic Brekke is coloring but still stoic.

A blink. "Perhaps, but when would be a better time to discuss it? Do you have one in mind?"

"You need a baseline physical for school, anyway." Frank rumbles, and he might have a little color too.

"Repro.." A blush Herself "What do you two think I'm doing?" Eyes widen

A sigh. "Right now? Nothing drastic. But this is not merely about that. This is about health, not merely about...sex."

Redder purple on her cheeks, "What brought this on? the two piece? I thought we moved on beyond that"

"No, Siv...not the two-piece." A pause as she frames her answer. "You are sixteen. Many girls begin having these appointments well before that age. We want you to have the care you should...and the information you need for the future."

"I ..well, you know you've given me some basics and others..." A sputtering then lowering herh air over her eyes to better hide her face "Health, suddenly, this isn't health that's got you.. i'm sorry, I shouldn't, but it just seems weird that suddenly now.. I ." A mutter "This is mortifying."

"And that is part of the problem. It should not be mortifying. The fact that it is...means that we have not been doing a good job, I think."

"And Siv...do not think this is sudden. We have been talking around the idea for some time."

"It is 'weird' for us, as well."

"I.. " yup, lotso f purple "Well, it's sudden to me. And I... honest, I don't... honest to gosh I wasn't doing more than kissing."

"Sweetheart. I believe you. We both do. You would need these appointments even if you were going to remain celibate for life...but I do not think that is your intention." An eyebrow and an attempt at gentle humor.

"Celibate for LIFE? By Aegir's waves, you two jump to extremes!"

"As I said, not a likelihood, nor even something we would wish for for you."

"Can I.. Can I have a moment to ... what brought this on?"

Frank takes a deep, steadying breath, exhales slowly. "Siv, depending on the method you choose, your body will need time to adjust, for it to be...." He clears his throat. "...safe. Forethought is necessary. As for what brought it on...." He glances at Brekke.

"Well, Gina took Jessica for the same kind of appointment about your age."

"Beyond the mere fact of your age? Siv...you are interested in boys. This is not something that you have hidden from us. Eventually...and maybe not anytime soon, but maybe soon indeed...you will choose to act on that interest more intimately."

She is now a mess of hair resting on a face which is resting on a table top

"mmay have ruined the idea of sex for me forever..." might be heard

Brekke's brow is furrowed and she looks to Frank.

Frank regards the mop-top on the table with aching tenderness.

He glances back.

"Siv...that wasn't my intent...." She sounds pained.

"I don't think we have, not really." Frank says gently.

"Did.. you're not doing this because you don't trust me?" An eye peeks up "this isn't because you think the worst of what I'm doing?" Looking a bit fragile as she asks

"No."

"No, Siv." Brekke's tone is low but firm. "This is because...when you decide you are ready...we want you to be prepared."

A sigh. "And as I said, it is a matter of normal women's health, regardless of sexual activity."

She looks down and shakes her head. "I am no good at this, my daughter. I am sorry."

Frank nods, pauses, and can't help a small, rueful, smile. "You really don't want to know about normal men's health precautions."

"Well, I... yes, " Her face has comee out, but is somehow sinking "I suppose I should then. You know. Do this." A thought "Can I do it alone? I mean, in the office, see the doctor or whatever?"

Frank lifts an eyebrow at Brekke, a slight shrug.

Actually is curious, but does not want to hear it from her dad, oh Hel to the Nephrim on that

Brekke nods. "I would like you to have an escort there, whether it is me, or your father, or perhaps Kerri or Sally Mae. But you get to decide whether that person goes into the examination room with you. Now, that means you will have to make sure to have extra dross on you, jewelry perhaps, in case you encounter difficulties."

Frank nods.

A nod, and she perks up a bit, indeed, seems to be recovering, "you're trusting me, with my body in a mundane setting, and just ask that I'm equipped for this ...journey"

"Yes."

Brekke nods.

A smile escapes, "Well, I may not stop blushing for a week,, but... aye, thank you then. I... I know that this has to be at least as awkward for you as it is for me." trying to be fair, "And ma, you're.. not bad at it. It just took me off guard it did. And..." A deep breath, "I'd like you to take me to the doctor on a time you have time. I mean, Sally Mae is grand, and Kerri is used to this sort of thing, but neither's me mum" A side glance, "Sorry dad, I want to be fair about this but ... just can't wrap my head about the idea o you taking me there. I think we're both better off if mum takes me."

"I think that is only fair to your father. There will be few magazines in the waiting room to interest him." A quirk of a grin.

Frank chuckles. "I'm not at all hurt."

"Good" A nod of RELIEF

"I will find whom Kerri recommends as a doctor. And...before we go, Siv, I will tell you a bit more about what to expect. It is a...strange process, and uncomfortable, though not painful. But your father need not be privy to those particular mysteries, either."

"I would be forever grateful if he wasn't" Low mutter "So sorry, da"

"I'm fine." Stoic, but with high color.
