Dag chews on her lower lip, looking between the two other girls.

"And we'll clean up the popcorn" she points to some kernals on the floor

"Yes, you will...." Again, the waiting.

"We...um..." Sylvi starts, glances at the others again.

"We're allowed to watch movies." Defiant!

A wince

Both eyebrows go up. "Hmmm....that rather depends on the movies."

"We're learning more about other parts of the country."

A snort. "It wasn't a dirty movie."

"oh definitely nae a dirty movie. Rubbish that stuff. Ick. Blah. etc."

A bemused look at Siv's desperate argument for geographical education.

Siv can't agree fast enough with dagmar on that point

"No, Mom, nothing like that." She shakes her head rapidly and sincerely. Then a sigh. "Show her the case, Siv."

Siv nods and pulls out The Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD case "Apparently based on a true story? So.. you know, like a biography as well"

"It's not even that bad, I saw one once with a crazy doctor that turned these girls into a centipede and he sewed their mouths to this dude's...."

"I've...heard of that one, Dagmar, thank you. You'll not be watching that here."

She takes the case from Siv, glances over it, and at the girls....and can't hold back a smirk.

"There was yard sale, and this lady was giving a box of old DVDs it was only 5 bucks and like 15 movies" She said

"And Vali told me I could borrow his lap top, though I don't think , in his defense, he knew I'd use it as a movie screen" A bit sheepish

"But we're allowed to watch movies."

"Hmmm...may I see the others?"

"Nobody said you aren't allow to watch movies, Dagmar." Kerri pauses. "But not all movies."

Siv reaches under a table and pulls out a box. Looks like someone was a fan of horror movies from the 70s and 80s. Nightmare of Elm Street, Poltergeist, The Shining, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and a few more. Oh, and for some reason the Movie Troll. nothing to do with blue giants

She rubs the back of her neck.

"Ohhhh...." Kerri looks through the collection. "Well...this one's a must. And this. I wasn't a fan of these, but I guess they're... Troll? Oh, that one's awful. Hmmm....."

"Well, I did't pick em, but five bucks, a bargain's a bargain"

Sylvi's eyes go wide as her mother reveals herself to be...knowledgeable about such things as horror movies?"

"Three movies a buck, yeah."

"Wait, you know these films?" Clearly seeing a soure of info ""Are the blonde girls always suicidally dumb?"

"So really, we're being frugal..."

"Mm-hm." Kerri nods as she finishes sorting through them. "It's not a bad selection. Well, except for Troll. But...we need some rules." She's made two piles. "These ones are fine for all of you. These ones, Siv, please put away for a year or so, they're a little more than the girls are old enough to see, in my opinion," she adds before Dagmar can protest.

"Now...I don't want any of you showing these to Gerd. You've all seen your share of horrors already...but I'd like to keep her away from these for a bit longer. Of course, Vali might overrule me on that, I don't know. Siv, I expect you to let your parents know about these, but that I've already sorted the scary from the vile."

A wince as dad and mom are brought into it, "Yes ma'am"

Dag leans in to see the "too old" pile...

"And...if any of you generate or attract any chimera related to these, you do not hesitate to get help in dealing with them, understood? Nightmare chimera are no joke."

A slight grin. "Same goes for plain old nightmares."

"I ain't gonna get a nightmare from a movie..."

Siv says "If we bring one up, we can put it down ourselves, but thank you."

Hint of pride

"I'm just saying...don't let it get out of hand out of stubbornness." She nods to the too-old stack that Dagmar's looking at. "Siv, do you want me to put those away somewhere, or...?"

She gathers them up, "I'll put them away' the 'too old' bit.

then she says "But I have to ask, is Troll really that bad? because darn it, now i'm curious."

Kerri nods, then adds, "You need a copy of Jaws."

"Oh, Troll isn't bad in the sense of scary. It's just a bad movie. Just...bad." A laugh.

"Oh, I heard of that one! Big shark right?"

"Yeah. Dooooo-do, dooooooooo-do..."

"That's the one. Mostly, you don't see the shark. The story is all in the people....and, well, I like it."

Sylvi's just quietly agog at the whole process.

"Wicked" She smiles. It's clear the Hearth has gained cool points in her view

"We could watch that one..."
