"Arcadia is lost to us, here. Memories cloaked in mist. Most have only the barest snatches of who they were before their exile."

August nods a bit like a bobblehead.

"Sidhe are hit twice over, since taking a body results in the loss of the host. Her memories are likely also jumbled and fragmented. You are new-born in this world. A fledge."

August's jaw drops and he looks at the other woman for perhaps the first time. "A.... new?"

"'Fledge.' How I am growing to hate that word." A sigh.

"At least I am spared the confusion of my host's memories. She, this Chloe, seems to be completely gone. And good riddance, if I'm correctly informed."

He winces just a little, without meaning to.

She shrugs, the gesture carrying through to her wings. "She was still a life, and one that is gone for your sake. Your life is at the cost of another soul. Mind that."

Her brows raise in ironic amusement. She looks to August, with a side-nod towards Sparrow. "This one likes to lecture me."

" 'This one' finds you arrogant. So hey."

He offers a small smile, shy. "She might. I think she gets that from me. And her beauty, inside and out, from you."

A tense inhale, and she looks away for a moment.

"From...me?" She looks from August to Sparrow.

He nods, his expression a war between joy and nausea.

A sigh, resigned. "Derynwydd Truthbranch ap Liam."

Quietly. "You and I...have a child."

"But she prefers Sparrow." Quiet support for the other redhead, then to the first "Two."

"Deryn. It seemed familiar when you told me..."

"But not here. I mean, they -are- here but we didn't have them here." He flushes deeply. "Obviously."

She looks back to August with a blink. "Two?"

He pins his lips shut.

"Do I get to blame you for the Welsh?"

To Sparrow, a helpless gesture. "I...have no idea."

"The other is a Fiona knight. He, I think, will be thrilled to meet you."

"Magnus."

"Magnus." She forms the word, then shakes her head. "It's like 'Deryn.' It feels familiar to say, but I do not recall..."

"Almost.... as if when your host left, she took your memories too." He murmurs, interested despite his turmoil.

Cheeks still burning.

"August, how long did it take for you to remember her?"

A baffled head shake. "I have no idea. It's not as though I know what this is supposed to feel like."

"She's barely been here a week. She might remember more when she learns her name, but that takes time."

He shakes his head, still standing at the edge of the clearing. "Nothing, until I was in the Deep Dreaming."

"Maybe we can all take a breath, and not rush headlong into being some kind of elven Leave it to Beaver."

"Some kind of....what?"

"Idealized family. Mom, Pops, two kids and a white picket fence."

"Of course." He tries to take a strangled deep breath. "You have your own steps forward to take, Sparrow, and ... my lady, you have a year's learning ahead, coming into our society and our world."

"Fiona, as a rule, will give you more leeway than other houses. Six months of guarding, and six months of watching. You'll have a lot more freedom come Yule."

She looks at August again, and nods. "I do, or at least I have been told I do. It seems to be a tiresome waste of time, but it's what's expected of me, apparently."

A wry grin. "That would be fine, if I were being hosted in an Eiluned's home. I am yet to meet my Fiona mentor, though I'm told I'll have one."

"Because you don't even know what you don't know. Even if your memories are strong - do you know what the Accordance War is? The second Resurgence? Adhene?"

He flashes a quick grin, sunny for a second.

A blink at Sparrow, and then back to August. "Lecturing."

His smile teases out a smile from her in response.

"Easy, Sparrow." Gentle, tentative. "She will learn, give her time." He nods wryly to Coradel, then blinks and grins again at her smile.

Longer this time.

OOC Ok. *sigh* Going to need to pause.
