I am weirdly excited about silly things. There's a new store opening within walking distance of me that sells stuff packaging-free. So, like, all bulk stuff, but stuff you might not ordinarily buy in bulk, like toothpaste tablets.

Refill detergent and shampoo, etc.

Okay. That might be needed.

Yup! I like buying in bulk, but there hasn't been anywhere to do it where they welcome you to bring your own containers. They want you to use theirs.

Like, if you got 100 towels, 100 small drinks, 100 tiny bars of soap, and suddenly you're in the motel biz minus the beds and rooms

Not boring. Makes sense. If you can get a good deal, you could make your own little care packages etc.

Not meaning this tongue in cheek either. I've seen things where folks who had an area destroyed by a wildfire could use little things

Well, it's not about buying little bottles of shampoo...it's about them having a BIG barrel of shampoo, and you bring in your container to refill rather than buy a new container.

Same with other bulk stuff.

I hit my 50000, so made 'goal' for nanowrimo, but have hit a slow down. I hope to do a bit more during the week to finish the rough draft properly

I need to work on the teaching staff. Got an ornery old Librarian, a spineless headmaster scared of the politicians, two snobs who are refusing to teach 'peasants', one drafted former student turned soldier now recovering... thinking of a non human teacher but not sure what fantasy race I'd use.

You need a caretaker.

And the SOldier was 'drafted' by the LIbrarian's suggestion... a former student who will now have to get to know the kids he's willing to send to war.

I am also considering a music teacher who does not understand this idea that the commoners are ONLY supposed to learn blasting and that's it. She teaches music at this school. THey're at this school. ergo, she's going to teach them music, right? Everyone needs music!

IE a bit flakey, but oddly egalitarian in it!

Funny if their magic actually improves because they understand music theory.

Got one aristocrat studen who is going to be yanked out of learning blasting and majoring in something safer at her parents insistence. I'm think of having her trade lessons with a commoner "I teach you healing magics , you teach me blasting? " deal

the music teacher I think will be teaching more than she meant to yes 🙂 but I like the idea of music making the magic easier for one of the students
