Last night at the shire meeting, the officers were supposed to vote on whether or not to start the polling process to ask the membership whether or not to dissolve the shire. We should have had that vote a month ago, but our Seneschal insisted on notifying people that we would be having this meeting to discuss it. Usually there are two, maybe three people at the meetings. Lo and behold, people I've never seen before came out of the woodwork -- and the Seneschal actually handed one of them money on the way with the explicit instructions: "That's so you can pay for your membership so you can vote."
