It is an honor to receive consideration for a a Distinguished Professorship in Teaching. My primary motivation in a career in academia was to work with students, and I have found great fulfillment in my role as a teacher here at YSU. While I pursue continued scholarship and professional and creative work, and while I value my service contributions to the university and the community, the students are my priority and I try to prioritize their good in all the work I do. My scholarship aids me in the classroom, while my service efforts foster an environment where learning can take place.
“Distinguished teaching” can be a difficult thing to quantify. What I hope to demonstrate here is a sense of how I work and share some examples of outside assessments. Included in this packet you will find a selection of student and administrative evaluations, samples of student work, course materials, and letters from former students. Hopefully, this may provide a snapshot of my strengths as an educator."
