Yeah, my vote doesn't really matter on a national level. It'll go with the electoral college, which is unerringly blue. But more local stuff is where my voice counts. Especially on a local law proposed on the back of the ballot.

What was the local law?

Adding a 1.5% fee to all real estate transactions over $245K (and that percentage is only measured on the amount in excess of $245K) to fund support of our local watershed, open space, and other local ecology issues. The local real estate market has been fighting it HARD.

Actually, I'm saying $245K, but the actual law is based on the median real estate price in the area (which is currently $245K). And yeah, we have a LOT of people coming in and trying to buy land for profit rather than residence, and they don't give a shit about land stewardship.
