Honestly, I've spent most of my life deathly afraid of spiders...but in the last ten years or so I've gotten inured to them. And recently I've even grown rather fond of them.

I love my spider friends. Now, house centipedes? They can FUCK RIGHT OFF.

Once found a dead one stuck in my shower scrubbie. That scrubbie was in the trash Very Quickly.

Can't have with rats, though. There's some concerns about how they can harbor salmonella in their environs which can be bad for rats. And also, the whole food chain thing would get weird. A snake big enough to be interesting to me, would also need to eat food that is the same as my other pets.

Oooh, yeah, ethical issues there. What makes this a pet and this dinner?

Which, honestly, I don't how small farmers do it. I respect that they can raise a cow with kindness even when they know that eventually they'll be slaughtering it for dinner...I just know that I'd have trouble doing it.
