I don't CARE if somebody is a vampire larper, Pennsic is still an SCA event.

And since it's open to non-members, you get people from a lot of different types of groups. Somebody's complaining about that? (This is my shocked face.)

"In the SCA, are to make an "attempt" at period garb. Pennsic is attended by groups other than the SCA. The bunny fur/barbarian look? In many (even most) cases, those are not members of the SCA. There's a group of vampire cosplayers that attends - they're not in the SCA.

What I'd like to see is less of this "you're ruining my medieval experience" and more "you play your game, I'll play mine"

See - I am not a jerk. I see somebody in mundanes, or in a bunny bikini, I won't attack them.

But I sure as hell will judge them and I think it shows a lack of respect for the venue.

Like - Tir Thalon I know has elves and whatnot.

Yeah, we're not "period" per se, we tend to go more low-end fantasy...but we have a a few strict rules about garb. No sneakers/modern-looking footwear, no decorated bras instead of real cholis or other appropriate gear...and one your tent is up, you're in garb until after your tent comes down.

I did love the "Elmo hunter" a few years back.

Yeah - and I was a ren-faire person first, I'm pretty generous about what constitutes an attempt

but... no, if you are AT an SCA thing, you play by SCA rules.
