I trued up a dress pattern yesterday

I had a pattern for a dress that I loved, but dress is now much too big

I had a second dress, cut from that pattern and then pinned and pinned and cut and stiched until it fit

it fits

but

no pattern for the new size

so I did a bunch of fiddling to trace the put-together dress onto paper

And I can see why you'd want new patterns

(I am not taking it apart and putting it back together to get a new pattern)

Which would be the easier way?
