K.C. Brine knocks on the door 2 minutes before he's supposed to show.

Mr. Stodgepole answers. "Mr. Brine?"

Mr. Brine is wearing a tux. Looking a bit like a bald lurch as he is pale and tall. "Yes. K.C. Brine. I am a Child Care Specialist"

Stodgepole only just manages to control his eyebrow.

"Do come in. May I offer you something to drink?" There's a tea set up.

"Yes. Thank you." He says entering in

Stodgepole plays mother.

"Do be seated....." and he does the same "Mr. Brine, we're looking for a full-time caretaker for several infants. What prompted you to apply for the position?"

He sits, "I enjoy a challenge." K.C. Brine says "Indications would be more than a typical number of children, for parents who might be out and about by need"

Stodgepole nods. "Tell me about your background."

"I have a college degree with a Education major with a minor in Criminal Justice. I was in the top 10 percent of my class. I have worked for the families of actresses, CEOs, and diplomats as a Nanny. While I realize my career choice is considered atypical for men, I have also found some children respond better to male authority and this has been a benefit"

Stodgepole watches him carefully (kenning).

"Impressive."

"May I ask about your personal background? Only what you wish to share, but... in a get-to-know-you sort of way."

"I see. My family has always taken unusual paths. My mother was a circus contortionist, my father a body guard."

"Mmm." He consults the resume.

Most impressive, he wasn't kidding about CEOs and Actors and such.

"What are your views on the use of a strict use of facts and reality vs. encouraging imagination and flights of fancy when working with children?"

"Children require games of makebelieve in order to give normal development. It also builds the future for moral boundaries. "

"Mr. Brine, would it surprise you if I said I might have trouble imagining you engaged in a game of make believe? I mean no offence....."

"I understand sir. My appearance is not...playful"

"But you can and do, satisfactorily?"

"Mr. Stodgepole, are you asking me to play with you?"

A merry chuckle. "No, Mr. Brine. There would, of course, be a point at which you meet the children and will interact with them as we go through the employment process."

"Of course. how old are the children?"

"Under two months old, still very much in the care of their mothers, but they do grow so quickly....."

"Oh," And the odd man smiles

"Oh definitely they need stimulation... visuals and tactile toys to spin or watch...to help them forcus coordination"

"Are you comfortable caring for them in different settings?"

"Oh yes sir. One of my clients had me care for her daughter on set, then on a yacht, then in a yurt."

"Quite adventurous." No judgement, even some approval. "You spoke of your own non-traditional background. I should mention that our own family is non-traditional as well. Would that concern you?"

"Not in the slightest as long as the children are not harmed" he says

"Oh, the well-being of the children is our utmost priority." The short man assures the tall one.

"Yes, thank you," Mr. K.C. Brine says. "then I will adapt. It's not my place to judge the parents, just tend to their off spring"

"MMmmm. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss?"

"how many children again will it be?"

"Between two and seven depending on needs. Of course, the more children the more compensation, and extra hands, will be available."

"Yes, I confess, an apprentice of some sort would be useful back up up to a certain point. " he nods "my rates are not those of a babysitter, Mr. Stodgepole, I do not say wht with arrogance, but so there is clarification"

"You would not be a babysitter; you would be our nanny, full-time. Head Nanny." He amends.

"Excellent" he says "Are there any other questions you would ask of me?"

"Are you available for a second interview, should that be the direction we take?"

"of course. I am under the assumption that I will be meeting the mother as well at the least"

"Perhaps a presumption, but a logical one" he says

Stodgepole clears his throat. "Mothers, yes."

Brows shoot up, but he nods "I look forward to it at their need"

"I will be in touch, Mr. Brine. It was a pleasure to meet you. Please excuse me if we don't shake hands? I would normally walk you to the door......"
