"Rare dust, you said." He crosses his feet; his boots are over by the door. Long toes clench and relax*

"So what happened in Topeka, you and Miz CC have a good time?"

"The dust, unless I am mistaken, causes the consumer to switch to their winter coat for a time."

"Miss CC did not join me in Topeka." His eye twinkles.

"Hunh. Interesting choice for a highsummer prank."

"Huh. Hadn't noticed." *Well, he wouldn't, would he? A drink* "Up to Ma if she wants to do it, then, she'll feel it."

*He's regarding Emerson with that same thinking, narrowed gaze* "She didn't. Well, long as you both had a good time, nu?"

"True enough. Work first. Six or eight?"

"Six or eight?"

"Spokes. Gotta check th'numbers... c'mon, y'little momzers..." scribble scribble...

He shrugs at Emerson. He's got nothin'. His dark eyes flick back to the nocker scribbling*

"Ah." He nods. "Janet, when you have a moment, have you eaten? Today?"

"Today is really such a LIMITING qualifier...."

"Think that means she forgot to."

He sighs, long-suffering. "Indeed. Janet, I've brought what's necessary and provided as well for Ice. May I make you dinner?"

"I'll figure out dinner in a minute... just gotta... I wonder if seven would be structurally stable?"

He sighs again, and heads into the kitchen.

He pushes off the counter, and moves out of the kitchen to make room for the boggan*

"No need to leave, Ice, but thank you for the room." He begins gathering what he needs.

"Just staying out of the way. Ma, you tell me no phones at the dinner table, why don't you put the notebook away, vershtay? Company, what kind of example you setting for me?"

He's learning the hectoring tone of Jewish Mothers everywhere*

He chuckles again, and starts mise en place work.

"A bad one. I'm a terrible example, Spiderling. Ha. Teen mom, time bandit, wanted fugitive..."

"Sounds delightful." He says with warm approval.

"Also, I have serious furkin' road rage." She does, however, set the notebook aside.

"Yeah, you were doing good until that last. I'm bringing ear plugs next time you take me somewhere."

"Eh. Probably smart."

*To Emerson* "She caused the guy who cut her off, his car broke down."

He shrugs, and drinks from his glass*

As he works, "I am not surprised. I suspect she swore it to death."

Janet BEAMS. "There was smoke!"

"Mostly stuff about the Thallain. Haven't paid much attention." He juts a thumb at Janet and rolls his eyes, a 'See?' gesture*

"So proud of you." Approvingly to Janet, then urbanely to Ice. "Well, Thallain -are- an issue. I've run across a few myself."

"Uhg. Furkin' jagoffs, all of them. Like, can't just be honest unseelie..."

"I'm forced to agree." To Janet.

"It true, they used to be Kithain, just got the Seelie knocked out of them? What's the deal?"

Still drinking his iced tea, listening between them with narrowed eyes* "They look like us, I heard?"

"Some of them."

He shakes his head. "At first glance, perhaps. In a dim light. Not goblins, of course." That to Janet.

"I think there are a few theories about where they came from and how, but I don't know how true any of them are."

"Some have a resemblance - but no, they ain't fae. It's like - unseelie want change, sure. They wanna have summer an' winter. Thallain, though, wanna burn it all down an' shit an' piss on th'ashes."

"A good point well made."

"And trust me - just cause someone's unseelie, that don't make'm allies. They hate unseelie just as much."

"They hate Kithain, they hate us. Seelie and Unseelie have little to do with it." He concurs.

"Huh. So Leo's brother, he wasn't a real ogre, then, I guess."

"Thought maybe. You know, Unseelie trolls, sometimes get called that."

"Yeah - just like unseelie sluagh are called bogies, sometimes. You ever meet one, you'll see th'difference right quick."

"And goblins are meshugga muthafurkers..."

"If I do." He crosses his arms on the pass-through counter, watching Emerson work* "Yeah?"
