"Me... I admit, I tend to be so busy with th'worst stripes of asshole, I ignore th'garden variety types."

"Is there someone troubling you, Janet?" He gets up to check the oven.

"There's less holds than there used to be. Makes me worry - one thing, if th'Baron can't hold his rule, a different one, if they're all not functioning. The fire has to be protected."

"The boggans there will protect it." Surely, and he removes dinner from the oven. "Needs to rest."

"Good. So long as th'fire is safe."

"I would not risk a 'Fire." He pauses in his preparations. "Well. Not needlessly."

"Damn straight. Yeah, tell the kiddo. He'll have a laugh."

He finishes, and is ready to serve. "Shall I call him? Or can he hear us now?"

"Oh, I'm sure he can. So - what's tonight's experiment?"

He smiles slyly to her. "Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad."

"No magic powders in this?" A wry grin.

He chuckles. "Sadly.... well, not so sadly, but.... the dust was used up in the brownies. No more left."

"Shame. Seems like there could be some recreational use there..." She transfers from her seat to one at the table, carrying her iced tea with her.

"Oh, I am sure of it. The marijuana, slightly more so. Do you want to call Ice?"

"Yo, spiderling - grub!"

It will actually take some calling; he really wasn't listening in. He appears a minute later, checking in the kitchen*

He'll take the containers that EBG brought, to microwave while he and Janet dish up their own, fresher fare*

.... and soon, bizarrely, they are seated around the table and eating.

No notebooks, no phones*

*So some withdrawals, likely*

"Kiddo, you gotta HEAR about Topeka's highsummer. This is right up your alley..." And soon, there are stories - of rowdy stables and donkey's ears, of embarrassing morning afters...

*He listens, going from amused, to admiring, to envious*

Emerson is grinning and eating, speaking only if asked to clarify.

"And you know pooka are going to get blamed." *Still with that grudging admiration*

"For an event on Pranksgiving? Perhaps so. Hm."

"Pooka are used to taking blame.... you said th'apothecary wasn't affected?"

"It seems he or she kept apart from the .... festivities."
