Having narrowly avoided a pie issue, Jessica nods for the next party.

The next one takes a slow down, and the Steward says "There is a request for a postponement for the next petition. Is that fine by you, your excellency?"

"It is."

And the line shuffles...

A piskie woman comes up. Like many of her kith she is.. non descript. She could walk into a crowd and blend easily. She is introduced by the steward as "Helena Reyes... here to ask for funding for a project."

Helena bows

"Tell me of this project?" she invites.

And suddenly the piskie is a ball of enthusiasm "Tijuana is a big city, huge, but all it's known for is violence, drugs, shady dealings. It IS dangerous but not everyone who lives here is a criminal ... you know this for you have many friends here. We live in an age of podcasts, tiktok videos and other streaming mediums. I and my motley have a small handful of dreamers , teenagers who are frustrated but hopeful, angry but with joy in their hearts. My motley wants to share their dreams with the world. To use the new medium to let them start a show, one where folks from all nations can get to know them and Tijuana as they want to be known, seen as they want to be seen. Watch them as they get to pull themselves out of poverty without compromising their values by seeing who out there would support them. I suppose it would be like a very isolated go fund me. If it takes off, it can be used as a stream of income to help pay for their art work, their musical careers, and more. But to get started, we need money to buy the right equipment. Seven locals ages 14 to 18, each presenting dreams to the world, each showing their talents and dedication. I have good skills with setting up sets. Another motley member knows computers... please, por favor, help us help them? It could be good for all the city if it helps its reputation. And it is hard to dream in poverty. We went to Father V but he has not the funds to help. But you are a noble. You have resources, or know those who do."

"What measures have you taken, and will take, to protect the Right of Ignorance?" she does not sound opposed to the idea.

"No enchantment for one" She says "We don't need it. Our cantrip work must be subtle, overt, and rare. None of the Motley will use our real names. The focus will be on the sons of adam and daughters of eve"

She nods. "What do you estimate will be the impact on the mortal parts of Tijuana?"

"I don't know... I hope it's for the better for the city. I'm sure it will be better for our group of seven." She says "But I HOPE it helps some tourism in a good way. I HOPE it helps people abandon their biases against Tijuana ,or at least challenges their preset notion"

"I'd like to know about the impact in more detail." she points out "If it drives a rush of tourism that the mortals of the city are unprepared for, it could raise homelessness, crime, or even negatively impact your Dreamers if it's traced back to them."

"I doubt it would help tourism that much or that immediately. A lot of the impact couldn't be accessed until we found out how many views or hits we were getting"

"Hmm." thoughtfully "How much money do you need?"

A deep breath "Five thousand dollars could get us top of the line gear and a studio set up of good quality we could rent along with a bit of cash for food and more"

"And this is located in this Barony, correct?"

"Yes, your excellency" She nods

"I cannot commit funds from the Barony and would need to consult my own Seward at Fenix but I will do so. I'm sure we can get you -something-."
OOC AFK

"It's a wonderful idea and I thank you, Countess" Hopeful. And she is escorted away

"Steward, can you make a note we should discuss that last one?"

"Yes, Countess. Though I must say there's going to be a lot of follow up at this rate"

"I suppose that's to be expected."

Others are less eventful. There's a few requests to be by the balefire, apparently this is not atypical. Most changelings don't have a hold after all.

She notices the steward has a list of 'approved to stay'... with six slots. But three are already filled out, meaning she can only allow three others to stay. This is not bad per se, but she also notices the 'reservations' are two noble names and one that simply says 'reserved'. It's not hard to guess that nobles get haven before commoners here

She notes this.

So Jessica gets to tell two commoners there is no room, while three lucky ones get to stay.

The two unfortunate souls; who are they?

That's up to her. The five to pick from include... (Chimerical drum roll)...

A dog pooka wilder girl, beagle breed. Her glamour is so so, but not as bad as it could be. She does look longingly at the food here. Her clothes are torn at the knees and could use a wash

An elderly troll , near faded out, but who even now looks tempted to step back so others may have the fire. His armor is so nearly undone as to look like a ghostly after image. Only here in the hold is his nature seen.

A childling centauress who seems panicky in this crowd. She looks in dire need of a bath, and perhaps a curry comb and a brush. She too is low on glamour but not as much as the troll.

A Clurichaun grump who is looking on the vibrant side. He is offering to play fiddle for his stay over so at least he's not just a beggar.

Another Wilder, a nocker who is covered in soot. She is completely lost, and admits her attempt to create 'flew powder' was costly in more than one way. She lost her furking phone too. Crap day

And those are the five.

The Baroness nearby observes intently. Jessica gets the feeling she's being appraised and not just by hre

She greets all of them, and spends some time talking with each.

"Steward, we can at least provide all with food and drink, yes?"

"Of course, Countess"

"Let's do that now."

Then she turns back to the visitors.

"Does anyone object to Haven at a different Freehold, nearby?"

No one does

"I'm bloody lost anyway" The nocker admits

"Ok. You, sir..." she nods to the troll "Will stay here, at least for now, for a bit."

"If others need it more..." he starts to say but the steward makes a 'quiet' motion. And he does

"Young lady...." she addresses the Centauress "You could stay here too, but there's another Freehold not far away with a centauress who lives there, and helps take care of other childlings. Would you like to go there?"
